Hi Bicco,
Thanks for the feedback. Your decent history with the car will have definitely have helped. Owning the vehicle and having driving experience with the car that you’re looking to Insure will make the biggest difference. Next best to that will be having prior experience of a high performance car owned and Insured in your own name.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the recommendation, especially as you’re an existing customer who has experience of our service. It’s appreciated

Assuming you're not aged 21-22, this seems like an awful lot of money for adding the Prodrive Performance Pack. You'll find us very receptive to modifications and we have been covering the Prodrive modifications pretty much since they became available in the UK, so we'll certainly be able to help :thumb: Kind regards Tony

Hi Stealthy,
Judging by who currently covers your car, this does give away the car that you drive. Providing your car is recognised by the ABI (Association of British Insurers) we're happy, willing and able to cover the model. But bearing in mind you're hanging out on Scoobynet with that vehicle you're clearly living dangerously ;) Kind regards Tony

Hi M444GY,
Thank you so much for the kind words.... We've been covering Subaru Impreza models pretty much since the first one's turned up on these shores. Although it looks like we're the Insurance noob on the forum to most, we had been a trader on here from the early days when Shaun owned Scoobynet (before Internet brands took over) and we had dropped off here in late 2008/early 2009. We have plenty of experience in covering the models and most of the available conversions to the cars. We're UK based. Our cover is relevant (ie. like for like replacement of modified parts, track days are an option under some schemes), our staff own and run performance/modified cars too, which means we have decent technical knowledge to handle policies such as yours. Thanks once again for both your custom over the years and your support upon this forum :notworthy Kindest regards Tony

Hello Tony,
Would you be able to insure a full vehicle rebuild? I'm coming to the end of a 2 year rebuild using genuine or upgraded parts to my my 96 sti ra. The car is going to be a dry weather car so not looking for insurance until warmer months, but beginning my enquiry's early to allow rough insurance estimates. I'm 26 with 4 years ncb on a previous imported Impreza. Thanks a lot. |
Hi Gurnard,
Thanks for taking the time to post. We can entertain a full rebuild, but would need to know the parts that has been upgraded that were not original. It sounds like this has been a real project for you and by the end of it you'll have put considerable time into this, which is great and shows you really care about the vehicle. Using the car as a dry weather vehicle will hopefully help to keep the bodywork in good order (but ironically the Subaru Impreza is one of the best handling vehicles in winter conditions). Limiting the mileage would be helpful to keeping the premium down though. With the rebuild taking 2 years we would need to confirm your driving experience of vehicles that were owned and Insured in your name over the last 12-24 months. As this model will require prior performance driving experience. If both models are performance cars and you have a decent history, if we covered your everyday performance car we could potentially look at an introductory discount that takes your record into account and mirrors the NCB percentage to the 2nd low use car. Anyway, it may be better to move this to PM as we don't wish you to broadcast too many personal details. So, if you could PM me your driving history (for vehicles Insured in your own name) over the last 2 years that would be a good start. Kind regards Tony

Hi Razorwrx1,
We can cover some of the area's around Manchester and will always try our best to accommodate wherever possible, so it will be worth a go. The frequency of overall claims is actually down and modern vehicle safety has improved, but despite this the frequency of people presenting injury claims is high. Personal injury claims are playing a big part in rating as they represent the largest cost to Insurers. Parts of the North West do suffer quite badly from a high level of personal injury claim frequency, with some areas showing 4/10 accidents having injuries attached (which is far higher than most other areas). There is a bit of a coincidence as a high proportion of claims management companies and injury lawyers are based within the North West region. Before the cash for crash culture, the overall average cost of claims to Insurers was regularly less than £800. These days it's more like £2600. Almost entirely down to the rise of injury claims. Theft is also an influencing factor within the region, but costs are secondary to those of injury claims. The main factors with some of the higher rated postcodes will be how long you have lived at the address, the parking arrangements at your address (ie. Garage, Drive, Car Park, Road) and how long you have owned (and exposed) your vehicle (or similar) at the current postcode. Nearer the time it would be worth PM'ing me your actual postcode, garaging arrangements and the length of time that you've owned your car. So I can do some research before you apply :thumb: Kind regards Tony

Do you Insure near Manchester? All on here don't. I'm currently with A Flux. Had the car 3 years now. |
Hi MZP,
Sounds like you're clearly into your cars. Would you be keeping the Volvo as an everyday car, or is the idea to replace this with the Impreza? Driving experience is going to be the key to this and you clearly have this in abundance with the cars that you have tucked away :thumb: Most Insurers that offer the best deals do require current experience of a high performance car. We're always up for a challenge here (especially to help someone who is clearly into their cars) and will need to try to overcome this through manual referral of your historic experience over recent years. It would be helpful if you could PM me details in chronological order of your recent years' driving experience of high performance cars, including when you last had these on the road. We can then make some preliminary enquiries for you. Kind regards Tony

Would I be OK if I had a dullsville Volvo as my daily driver, but also have a 231 RX-8 and a supercharged MX-5 tucked up in the garage? Have a long history of performance cars, but had a year 'out' with using the volvo as a daily driver. PS, I'm 35 with full NCB. |
Hi tony, do you do a multicar type policy, ie for scooby and landrover?
|
Hi bigredrob,
We don't have a multi car policy as such, but can mirror NCB percentages to second vehicles and would be able to source independent policies for the vehicles. In addition, our schemes also offer concessions for limited mileage policies so if you have a daily vehicle that takes the pressure of the second vehicle and you are able to limit the miles under the second car we give a concession for this. Depending upon the drivers required under the policies, if we're able to place both policies with the same Insurer this will also result in a better rate. Especially if it is only one driver required upon both the vehicles. Our schemes are aimed toward high performance vehicles (in both standard and modified format) so we'll definitely be able to cater for the scooby, whether it's standard or modified. Kind regards Tony PS. If we're unable to fit the bill for the Landrover, one of our partner companies would be able to accommodate. |
tony iam 25 looking to buy a import or uk classic, ive owned loads of them in the past
2 years ncb, ive had a quote from moley just seeing what you can do cheers |
Hi Japolly,
Thanks for thinking of us. With previous experience of a similar car in the past, we stand a good chance of being able to help. We will need to take further details to source the best deal we can, so if you get 10 minutes spare either pop onto www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk or call us on 01277 376000 to apply. Kind regards Tony |
Hi Tony, i live in a high risk postcode  the sheep are dangerous around here :lol1: but the area is actually a low crime area, its just that it comes under a Bolton (BL) postcode.
Is there anything you can do? (I'll probably give you a shout later :)) Cheers :) |
hi tony
gave greenlight a call, ive owned 3 scoobies in the last 2 years had to sell recentley due to work reasons now looking to buy ive loads of exprience with these cars but.......apprantley i need to own the car 12 months before you will insure? i just thought if ive owned the same sort of car for a few years id be ok? |
Hi Japolly,
Thanks for trying us. Sorry we couldn't help this time around. It sounds like a postcode restriction, as where the postcode is rated as very high risk the Underwriters will require you to have been resident at your current address and having owned the car you're looking to cover for at least 12 months. Kind regards Tony |
Hi Tony,
We will try to accommodate every applicant and can cover some of the Bolton postcodes. With it sounding pretty rural there, providing you keep an eye out for the dangerous sheep :Suspiciou we should be ok :thumb: Kind regards Tony

Unable to quote due to being a JDM car and not on the ABI register
Tony:( |
Hi Tony,
Sorry we couldn't help today. Your postcode was not a problem. The problem is systems related, which relates to Insurers being unable to recognise transmissions for vehicle models that are not-ABI categorised. We're testing a solution with one of our main Underwriters, which will hopefully help with this and will post when this is live. Thanks once again for trying us. Kind regards Tony |
What a joke. Phoned for a quote. Wld have another driver allowed on it. Both same surname .
Sorry but can't quote you as that insurance fronting. I said excuse me. Yh that's fraud sir. Get a grip. So u telling me I cld not have a mother, brother, sister or father on the policy. |
Hi t16mbo,
Sorry to hear that you experienced difficulties. Adding a second (or more) drivers to a policy would not normally present a problem to us, so i'd be particularly interested in looking into this for you. Insurance ‘fronting' only occurs where someone other than the main driver of a vehicle is incorrectly declared as the policy holder, benefiting the other driver. Examples of this would be a parent insuring a car and declaring themselves as the main driver in order to reduce the insurance premium, when in fact their son or daughter will be the main user of the vehicle. Or, where covering a 2nd car and seeking an introductory "mirrored" NCB concession (by declaring yourself as main user) based upon your record for a 2nd driver without NCB. Did you apply online, or call via the telephone for a quotation? If you could be so kind as to PM me your actual name and postcode i'll be able to review this internally, then responding to you in greater detail :thumb: Kind regards Tony

hi tony
do you cover anybody under 25? even with previous sports cars experience? i currently have a traders policy but its getting abit steep. im 21 and have been insured on a porsche boxter, saxo vts ( i know its a saxo bit its still group 14) and a gsxr600. looking to get a uk2000 or an sti soon and my insurance is due up next month. cheers. |
Best experience I have had trying to insure my wrx,the staff where really helpful and new what they where talking about, they beat all my other quotes by over £200 and advised will come down even further next year if circumstances stay the same,I would Definately recommend them to friends thanks
|
Hi Wolf,
Unfortunately we can't help with a UK2000 at 21. To cover the Uk2000 Turbo, P1, WRX, or WRX STi models with us you'll need to be aged 25 or over under our current preferentially rated schemes. Traders policies are aimed at people who work in the trade, or sell vehicles part time and tend to be quite general (covering stock vehicles etc). They don't always list the vehicles that you've used on a personal basis, which could be a problem to any Insurer seeking to prove your previous driving experience of a performance car. So it may be worth checking that the company who you use for trade cover has the cars that you've driven over the last 12-24 months listed. As this would help your cause when contacting Insurance providers :thumb: Kind regards Tony

Just to clarify exactly what experience would be required from a Greenlight perspective for most of our preferentially rated schemes.
Ownership With high performance cars the best terms (rates/excess etc) are available to those of you who have owned their vehicle for at least the last 12 months (the longer the better). Current Performance car experience The next best thing to ownership would be owning another high performance vehicle for the last 12 months or more (again, the longer the better). Performance car experience of an All wheel drive, front wheel drive or rear wheel drive would be fine for a Subaru Impreza model. We have a preference for covering all wheel drive models due to their overall handling ability, front wheel drive models are the next best performing for us. Having analysed this in infinite (often painful) detail, we find rear wheel drive models to be the most problematic to us (especially during poor weather, or winter conditions). They are often prestige models, are harder to control and usually the most expensive to fix. The real problem for us is when someone changes from an all wheel drive, or front wheel drive model to a big BHP rear wheel drive model (BMW M3 etc) just before winter without any prior rear wheel drive experience. We would not be able to assist in this instance. Limited experience On some occasions we are able to accept less experience, but this will depend upon 1) The age of the policyholder. 2) Their overall profile. 3 Where some current performance experience (ie. 6-8m) was gained, whether this was gained throughout a winter period. 4. Where you have extensive performance driving experience, but this is not current (ie. you have had performance cars for years, but not for the last 6-12m) This would require bespoke referral to Insurers for acceptance and there is no guarantee of success. No experience If your last car was a basic non-performance model (ie. 1.0 Toyota Yaris, 1.2 VW Polo) and you're aiming for a Subaru Impreza STi we'll not be able to help. High risk postcode areas Insurers retain detail of all claims experienced for analysis purposes, which is used to highlight their exposure (based upon the actual claims received) to risk. This will include theft, accident and personal injury frequency (and cost). Areas that are proven to have been consistently loss making are often excluded from preferentially rated schemes. However, where you have been resident at your current address (ie. exposed to the local area) for several years and have owned your performance car there for 12m or more (again, the longer the better) we will always try to source cover for you on a risk by risk basis. Hopefully this is helpful in explaining our current acceptance criteria and thanks for listening :thumb: Kind regards Tony P.S. I'll also post this within the Greenlight thread as this will be useful to highlight our experience requirement to anyone thinking of trying us |
I have had ago on the internet and came at nearly a grand, am i best calling ~ i have a standard wrx ppp 2003. im 32, with ncb.?
|
Hi R12CYS,
Thanks for posting. Calling for a quotation or running it online is really down to personal choice. Although the telephone option does allow the flexibility of our being able to ask additional detail (specific driving experience, where kept at work etc) that could make a difference. If you've already had a quotation from us online, i'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Simply PM me your actual name and postcode and i'll get on the case :thumb: Kind regards Tony
