Thats the phase 1 diff for a ty52 gearbox if you have the later model you will need a phase 2 out of any ty754 gearbox, it`s normaly the ty754 box`s that have the most diff problems!!!!!!!!!!!

That phase 1 is a spare he has a phase 2 diff for mine.

Scoobyno1 16 October 2011 06:58 PM

Finally got junior to put my replacement centre diff in, took him about 2 hours on the lift at his work. Runs fine now after about 18 months of clunking when warm.

Replaced the phase 2 centre diff on my classic and now the clunking, dragging, noise on full lock when warm are all gone!

Many thanks to pete@s/e imprezas (part) and Indigo GT (fitting) for fixing me up in double quick time. :thumb: :thumb:

I have the exact same problem, and I'm sick of chasing the noise.....so far I've replaced the wheel bearings, drive shafts, discs, pads, calipers, clutch and rear diff!!!! Only now to find this topic :/ constant droning noise when warmed up, and reverse parking feels like my wheels are shaped like 50p coins :(.........

So has anyone got a centre diff for sale to fit my95 WRX wagon ? Box code is TY752

J18DHN 16 October 2013 10:15 PM

would a diff from a 5 speed box fit into a 6 speed box

Fat Boy 20 October 2013 07:49 AM

If its a dccd box then make sure the diff is fully open as a locked up dccd makes horrible noises when turning at low speed. Try lifting the handbrake slightly at the same time until the brake light comes on as that sets the diff free too. If it still does it then at least you know.

Omg same thing has been happening to my Subaru Liberty for like the last yr, mechanic cant figure out whats wrong becuase I would take it to the mechanic first thing and the noise and clanking problem doesnt appear until i drive for a bit.. for me its needs to be like a 30min drive. Ill tell the mechanic to change the sports diff. Parking is the worst.

Glad you've revived this thread. Mine is doing this too, not clicking, just clonking, worse on full lock but only does it at extremely low speed, like only just moving. Its doing my head in!

Yeah when they guy said it feels like your wheels are shaped like 50cent coins im like yep thats exactly how it feels when you are full locked trying to park. Im going to contact a specialist subaru mechanic this week.. i also found an article that says it can be the Viscous Coupling, which is the system the distributes power evenly to all 4 wheels. Artcle is here - https://www.alldrivesubaroo.com.au/g...-differential/
