First book? I' just about to start the third, with the fourth waiting.

Go Tyrion!

I have book 7 on the shelf waiting to be read. As much as I like them I think they are dragged out too much. The books split into two could easily have been one book. I also find Daenerys' story a bit tedious. If it wasn't for Tyrion I would have lost interest a couple of books back.

I'm getting sooooo bored with them now. I'm on 'A Feast For Crows', and am getting to the point where I'm wondering if I can be arsed to carry on. Nothing really happens, everyone is just wandering about. I don't like the Daenerys sections. And is it really necessary to keep listing all the knights' names when they're in a room, or to keep describing their sigils? Quite frankly, I think it would have been a lot better if the whole lot had been cut by half.

we have Hodor in Ryan's Bar Belfast next Monday night for a GOT quiz night in aid of Action Cancer.

He can't help you.....not unless the answer to every question is "Hodor!"

I like Daenerys.

Not seen the TV show, who is the nice little blond above? That's not her surely? She was supposed to be 13..........

Googled it: it IS supposed to be her. Typical Americans  13 going on 26!!!

I've got a pal in Northern Ireland.
He's a man in armour extra in the scenes being filmed there now for the next series,
Hard work but he is an extreme fan living his dream.

Here's an email from him in July.

first day was yesterday and that was one of the hardest day's work I've ever done! nearly killed me! bonus being they gave us an extra £40 for strenuous work. Spoke to lots of guys that had done many days on season 1 & 2 and they all said it was the worst day ever.

It ends up in the world of extras a "bannerman" isn't a lord like in the books, they call the bannerman "bannerlords" for the extras roles so I was just a grunt, soldier belonging to a bannerlord.

Was set in a quarry with very steep hills, which they marched us up and down all day (first shoot took 13 takes! you soon lose patience with the idiots, one of the takes was apparently perfect but 4 muppets thought it would be funny to pick daisies and stick them in their armour so we had to do it again) was ok in the morning then torrential rain came which turned the whole place into a mud slide, with medieval boots with smooth soles you can imagine what that was like, marched easily 15+ miles at least 50% up steep hillls. Huge amount of people got injured 11 were sent home early a couple of which were in ambulances, totally brutal every inch of me is in agony today, lol I've got 7 blisters on feet/heels and my legs are so sore I can hardly walk, can't lift my arms above shoulder height from having 3 stone of plate armour digging into them all day.

Sounds awful but it was great fun at the same time can't wait until the next day which we've been promised will be easier.

Our 190 extras are becoming an army of 20,000 via CGI and I got picked for the green screen photos as the model for random bald soldier lol so there will be 100s of me with different generated faces added in the distant crowd.

I don't think I'll be easy to spot in the crowd for this day (episode 1) but there will be more chances.

I might have a photo, well a guy sneaked one of me and I gave him my number but he's still not sent me a text, really hope he does! Met some great people and had a really laugh in between the near cardiac arrest moments lol

All in all brilliant.. but the pain oh the pain lol

We had a couple of guys in the bannermen who recited most of Monty Python's Holy Grail during the day, funniest moment was about 30 of us bannermen at the back falling up sorry I mean marching up a steep mud slope in torrential rain singing "always look at the bright side of life" at the top of our voices even the crew were falling about laughing at us even although we were supposed to be silent during the take
