I once asked if my daughter could use the staff toilet in boots as there were no public loos anywhere. The assistant said no.

So, I picked up a potty, a pack of maternity pads and some nappy bags,(which I bought) and sat her down right there and let her do a wee. I threw in a pad (which soaked up the wee) and then double bagged it. I had one customer make a complaint about it being 'unsanitary', despite the fact you can drink you ows piss, and the assistant tried to give be a bollocking.
So I explained that it was this, or let her use the toilet, and that the
third option would have resulted in her peeing all over the floor. I simply took the most suitable option.

I see your point and btw, I fully agree there just isn't a decent amount of public toilets, but that isn't the fault of the staff or even managers of Boots. It's merely a shop, not a fast food outlet, restaurant, department store etc. I'm pretty sure that the issue for them isn't 'having a problem' with your child using the toilet, but being tied up by red tape/health and safety/insurance.

Thankfully, you took a better option than some in that you bought the stuff to allow your child to go, plenty of people don't and I've seen it all before working in a shop myself (people who don't even ask).

The point is, (I suppose) is whilst I understand your frustration, the real issue is lack of provisions outside of shops. Average shops won't have toilets as a rule and that is not their reponsibility. You let one person in, and before you know it everyone wants to go and your staff toilets quickly become public ones.

If u seen the state of the public toilets around Bridgend then you'd hold it in till you got home anyway!!! It's a disgrace!
