Ppl must know by now with scoobys it dont matter if the car is worth 50k and is a bmw or something its prob more to insure than a 5k scooby purely for the fact they are wanted for both parts and to order etc. that just makes them more vunerable.

Believe it or not, most insurance companies who specialise in Imprezas and the like will tell you that the loss ratios are so much better on this type of vehicle. It's the bread and butter cars that costs insurance companies money, not the enthusiast cars.

Had all three of my Scoobs insured with A-Plan at one stage, but am down to two now.

Live in West London, but still seem to get a competitive quote from A Plan, compared to what others say they pay.

However, it is when things go wrong which is the measure and I have to say that A-Plan have never let me down. I have moved away from A-Plan in the past, had an accident and really regretted who I was with, as they invariably let me down.

A-Plan all the way.

Keep up the good work.

Asif

PS can I get an even cheaper quote next time because of the free plug? :D

Asif

Have you ever had an accident whilst insured with A Plan?

I had three vehicles insured with A Plan until somebody ran in to the back off one of them. We were then handed over to a third party accident management company called Helphire to deal with our claim and A Plan weren't really interested from then on. All I will say is that as a result we have moved two of our vehicles to other insurance companies who deal with claims themselves and will be looking at the other when its due.

Chris, do you still use Helphire for third party claims?

Chris@A-Plan 16 February 2011 08:43 AM

We do still use Helphire and Connexus to assist with non fault claims. We will oversee fault claims on your behalf.

Generally we have a great feedback for our Legal Expense providers. Apologies if this has not been the case on this rare occasion.

If you have any matters that you would rather discuss over the phone, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Chris

Hi Chris

I had appalling service from Helphire. I took the car the day it was booked in for repair and collected a hire car which tbh was a bit of an old banger and had a fault that meant it couldn't be driven. My car which only needed a new bumper was sat at the garage for three weeks untouched. We chased both Helphire and A plan re a replacement vehicle and although they all made the right noises we were without a car for well over a week. The amount of time spent on the phone, the chasing etc was very poor. And to top that when I complained to A Plan they said they would carry out an investigation and report back which they didn't.

About the same time somebody bumped into my daughters car. She's insured with Tesco. She rang them and within two days a tow truck came dropped a brand new hire car off and took her car away. A week later they brought her car back repaired and took the hire car. It only took a couple of very brief phone calls.

This isn't aimed at you personally but when I rang back to find out the result of the investigation I was left in little doubt there hadn't been one. When I spoke to my insurer direct they were also a little concerned at the way Helphire had handled it as well.

So now I will only deal with companies that deal with claims in house.

JAutos 16 February 2011 02:22 PM

Maybe this should be dealt with in PM, companies have lots of customers and one complaint out of many can damage a reputation, all the good reports are overshadowed by bad, maybe they should deal with this better but open posts are a little harsh i think

MMT,

I will answer as I hope I can stand by what I have said.

I have had accidents while covered by A-Plan, the scenario was the same, I made literally one phone call and the rest was just taken care of. As I have never had (touch wood) a fault accident, I was passed to HelpHire every time.

No complaints from me at all, things could not have been simpler.

In the past I moved away from A-Plan, went to R&SA - awful, never again, not More Than, want nothing to do with these people. They are too big.

Since I have had Subarus, I have tried Elephant, dreadful, never again, abominable service, also LV. LV were fine for cheap rates, but when I was hit in an accident, by an uninsured driver, I had to chase, chase, and chase.

The 3rd party produced an 'eyewitness', one year after a minor prang and LV didn't even think to question it!!! They told me they were going to 50 - 50 it!!

I had to write a very long, detailed, analysis of the whole situation, pull apart the lies from the 3rd party, etc etc. before they saw it my way. Luckily the 3rd partys car was insured by Tesco, although the driver was not covered, so I won, as they (Tesco) were reasonable about it.

After all this I went back to A-Plan, once I discovered they did modified Scoobs and so on and they have been fine.

I was deliberately driven into by one driver about 3 years ago, I thought it was going to be like the LV situation all over again, but no. One phone call to A-Plan and everything was taken care of. Hire car, repairs, etc. The rates are not too bad either.

If they ever let me down, badly, I will simply move. There are plenty of good insurers out there. Until then, they can keep my business.

HTH

Asif

PS. Worth pointing out that these are just my own personal experiences. If I ever need to, I can produce all of the paperwork pertaining to the incident with LV. I am sure that all of these companies have many happy customers. I am just a fussy git! :D

I know what you are saying and I did think long and hard before posting. I have insured 3 vehicles with A Plan for a number of years and I'm really quite annoyed still at the way we were treated. And whilst non of this is aimed personally at Chris, while ever they advertise they have to accept a balance of credit when things go well and criticism when things go bad.

However, on reflection, I am happy to delete my post. Obviously Asif and you would have to delete your posts as well as my post is quoted.

Chris@A-Plan 17 February 2011 08:54 AM

No need to delete posts, we are happy to take good and bad on here, and if I can rectify things personally, I can honestly say, I will do everything in my power to do so.

Like I said before, this must have been a very rare circumstance, as the level of cover they provide is incredible. From an A-Plan point of view, our levels of customer service are very rarely matched, and to be honest by all accounts I think Scoobynet have the best of both worlds having the likes of us, Gary and Sky on board.

Thank you for the feedback, and if there is anything I can do come renewal time, speak to me personally, and I will make sure that you can reinstall your faith in A-Plan.

Regards

Chris

Thanks for the reply Chris. Based purely on how you've replied I am going to stick with A Plan on the one vehicle I haven't already moved and see how it goes and take it from there.
Thanks for understanding. :thumb:

Just had my renewal through from A Plan, not bad but not as good as Aviva at the moment with their 12 weeks free deal, around £140 cheaper, plus I get an extra 1000 miles a year and £5 cheaper windscreen excess with them. Only downside is the excess is £50 more with Aviva. Still waiting on a call back from Moley though:)

magicseven 26 February 2011 02:03 AM

phone number

Phone number for renewal would help...

Not to happy this year as Aplan put up my renewal by £250 for no good reason

:(

micky finn 29 March 2011 08:48 PM

shot8un im not in the insurance game and may be corrected but im sure there regulations state they have to put it up at the rate they are told by the insurer hence its always cheaper to shop about every year, RULE NUMBER 1 with insurance is there is no loyalty unfortunatly.

Please feel free to call us here, we can update the details and do some homework for you, it may just be that it is all still based on last years information.

Whacking MoreThan £250 off our quote for 2x 50 somethings :) really helped Chris + 5 Yr Protected NCB did the trick even with my using the car for work you were still ~£625 I believe. In comparison I have a high Bhp Caterham @ £271/year with limited mileage so your rate worked out well.

HUGE savings, but now SWMBO wants to go shopping, no thanks for that :):):) Chris.....
