He scuttled off back to AC Milan on loan 2008 - 2009 and hardly covered himself with glory, before he then returned home for nowt. I do feel really sorry for his wife though :Whatever_.

I don't think even she would say he had a successful spell at Chelsea. He had been typically banging in 30 goals per season in his original spell for Milan. I think Abramovich could have expected a similar return against our defences over here.

3 years, has he given up the booze as part of the deal ?, can't see him lasting that long.

Tough ( for us ) away at Birmingham tomorrow. I'll be happy if we scrape a goalless draw.

An early season 6 pointer, one of your rivals for 8th or 9th place!

FlightMan 16 September 2010 09:59 PM

Thought we played some good stuff tonight. Still a very long way to go for Roy and this team, but a good performance.

pauld37 17 September 2010 07:15 AM

Joe Cole played well, finally found his playing level ;) not many scarf wavers in, doesn't the social pay for Europa League games? :)

FlightMan 17 September 2010 09:09 AM

Maybe Joe has found a club he likes being at and fans who appreciate his talent?

Not many scarves at the Bridge are there? I suppose with all that plastic being waved there's no point.

Joe was always appreciated by the Chelsea fans.Last season he seem to lose is edge maybe caused by is knee injury which kept him out for so long.Chelsea management seen this and refused his OTT pay demand's.Hopefully for him going to Liverpool will restart is career,i hope so.

I'm in Frankfurt at the moment. Can anyone tell me how many we trounced Northampton by this evening? :wonder:

ilogikal1 22 September 2010 10:46 PM

No. No i don't think anyone can tell you that :D

Turbo2 23 September 2010 08:36 AM

Cobblers!....

...(sorry).

With Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs already out and the other big guns fielding their ballboys their could be an unlikely pairing in the League Cup final. My bet's on Newcastle to lose in the final, but to whom? :wonder:

After 96 years of overcoming various illnesses my Grandfather finally passed away last night.

He was a lovely guy who lost a lot of friends and family during WW2. As a child he had rickets and later on in life he overcame various cancers. His wife died in the late 70's but he still carried on everyday with the same, doing the same thing, day in, day out.

When it was his time to go he wasn’t scared; with his 5 children and 11 grandchildren at his side he was brave and didn’t show any fear whatsoever. He was joking and laughing, but slowly his illness started to take him.

In his last minutes he started to mention the friends he had lost and how his wife went too early ;he even mentioned his friend who had died when he was shot down over Germany, but then suddenly he took a deep breath and, looking out of the hospice window, he said "Still, it could be worse. I could support Liverpool...." :)

Turbo2 24 September 2010 04:12 PM

He must have been one of the few people left who remembered them winning the league. There must be but a handful of survivors now. :( :thumb:

Disgraceful cheating from Liverpool yesterday. Is this what a once mighty club has come to? very sad :(

As much as I don't like Liverpool, it wasn't cheating and cheating is a harsh word. It was certainly not in the spirit of the game, a bit like not throwing the ball back when put out of play for a injury.

Torres knew what he was doing and was just trying it on, why would he look twice at the ref? It should have been brought back by the ref, but he had gone off not looking at the free kick being taken. This is where he needed help from the assistant, who totally bottled it IMO.

Gerrard should have walked too, the ref clearly saw it yet decided it was only a yellow card:freak3: If he was giving a foul for jumping into the player then that is never a yellow, if he saw the elbow to the face then how did he come to the conclusion it only merrits a yellow?

At the end of the day if this was at the Stadium of Light Gerrard would have walked and their first goal wouldn't have stood. Big clubs get these decisions at home, hell United have had plenty as have other clubs. We need stronger refs but with the amount of pressure they get if they give a wrong call it's sort of understandable why they bottle it sometimes.

The elbow was clear cut IMO though.

Danny Welbeck
Has been charged with violent conduct by the FA.

They have reviewed the video evidence of the incident with Gerrard and charged him with "high / dangerous use of the face".

Funkii Munkii 27 September 2010 11:18 AM

Do you think he targeted Wellbeck because of who his parent club is ?

Yes I am saying Gerrard is that petty....
