i used to swear by Alfred Sargent, but I have a pair of Barker Westfield tan brogues and they are awesome.

and i agree -
sharp suit + cheap unpolished/scuffed/worn at the back shoes = untrustworthy

Do you have a pair for EVERY occasion or what
Do you have a select make that you like to wear when walking into the bedroom, and then another for when the deed is done :lol1:

I never knew footwear could be soooooo departmentalized :cuckoo:

well I don't go to work, weddings or black tie do's in trainers if that's what you mean

and I don't tend to run much in brogues

Shoes are V important imho

Interestingly an ex Immigration Officer wrote a book about his experiences on the immigration desk at Heathrow

It was called “Refusal Shoes” – the first thing he did when assessing someone was to look at their shoes as, in his estimation sh1t tatty shoes were a sure sign of a wrongun

Anyway as my dad said to me

Buy expensive/quality shoes and beds – because if you are not in one you are in the other

Les, I totally understand where you're coming from (or going to..), but these 'expensive' shoes really are quality, generally hand made in the UK, and you won't end up buying a new pair every year.

In fact, if looked after, I'd go as far as to say they could last you a lifetime.

Anyway, just been into Flannels in Notts and they haven't got many shoes in at the moment. (although they did have some 'Gaydar' Dolce & Gabbana ones.. :nono: )
I'm certainly not going to buy any via mail order so I'll just have to wait for my weekend away in Manchester/London next month. :)

Well I was only joking anyway. I fully agree that shoes are a good indicator of the person. My dad was very strong on that and I had to not only polish my shoes every day but also the instep! As you might imagine, I always had to turn up for work looking respectable from my shoes to my haircut!

Les :)
