shame about nani. think it would have done his development as a player good.

FM, he did buy a CB. £10 mil from Fulham.... which I do have to question.

Oh yeah how could I forget Smalling :wonder:

I was thinking of a more established player with some experience, even if it is for only a couple of seasons, Ferdinands body is falling apart !!

Rio's knee injury is one of those thing that just happens. ligaments are like that but they do become more susceptible to damage post late 20's so you do have a point to some degree. If they keep Vidic then Evans is improving all the time not to mention having O'shea and Brown back. Not first choice CB's by any means but normally United are well covered in that area. Last year was a freak hopefully.

Bravo2zero_sps 10 June 2010 11:19 PM

So anyone else excited? I've been looking forward to tomorrow all week. Fridge in my office is loaded with beer, 54 bottles of stella at the ready :D A month of solid football :D :D :D

C'MON ENGLAND!

Funkii Munkii 10 June 2010 11:49 PM

rio's knee injury is what has dropped england from a potential semi final/final place to only making the quarters, in my opinion. its a sore one for england... i'm scottish but i wish england well.. do it for the small island in a massive world!

pauld37 11 June 2010 01:28 PM

I was excited untill I drew New Zealand, Cameroon, Slovenia and the Yanks in our works World Cup draw :(

Turbo2 11 June 2010 03:40 PM

35 minutes into the 1st game and our whole family is already sick of that monotone drone coming from the SA fans' trumpets. Why can't they at least play a tune? :wonder:

They've been going on like this for days in the streets. The bast@rds start at 5am... it's the most annoying thing!

*Seriously Irritated*

Bravo2zero_sps 11 June 2010 05:12 PM

Well I really hope that was the worst game of the tournament out the way. Absolutely fcuking useless. I don't think Mexico have ever played that badly before have they? I expected so much more from them.

0ctane 11 June 2010 05:32 PM

Is it called throwing the game so the poor South African's aren't the first host nation to be knocked out in the 1st round?

Bravo2zero_sps 11 June 2010 05:38 PM

lol to be fair to you SA's goal was very good. However Mexico are a much better team but never showed it in that game. I'm just annoyed as I had a bet on Mexico to win :lol1:

I had 1-1 ;)

I also had Mexico -3 corners, when I fell asleep on the sofa they were level on aggregate, what happened :(.

Bravo2zero_sps 12 June 2010 09:32 AM

Lol git :p I had 3 free bets and got greedy thinking it was a no brainer Mexico would win instead of playing safe and covering all 3 results.

They beat Italy FFS so how could they possibly fail to beat SA  that's what happens if I make a bet which is why I never gamble :lol1:

Funkii Munkii 12 June 2010 02:34 PM

I had S Korea 2-1, Greeks looked woeful had enough chances to make it 2-1 :(

I fancy the Argies to beat Nigeria, but Messi never looks the same player for Argentina that he does for Barca and I dont rate Maradona as a coach nor the Argies with him in charge, hence a 1-1 bet + a 3-1 win to the Argies in case the prove me wrong :)

First half corners over 6 looks value at 3/1, just hope I can make it to half time tonight :lol1:

Bravo2zero_sps 12 June 2010 02:43 PM

I'm looking forward to the Argentina Nigeria game due to 2 contrasting styles of football. Hoping the Nigerians play with some flair. I agree as well Argentina with that cheating tw4t in charge aren't the same team they used to be.

Funkii Munkii 12 June 2010 02:56 PM

Man I'm yawning my arse off here !

Best have a drink and a smoke to pep me up othewise I wont make it until half time again and will probably wake up in the middle of he England match.

urban 12 June 2010 06:06 PM

USA USA USA :D

Bravo2zero_sps 12 June 2010 06:44 PM

I keep falling asleep during the games, I thought Stella was supposed to make you lairy not dead to the World :lol1: I fell asleep after the Argies 1st goal and then woke up for the 2nd half when Nigeria at least had some chances. Martens should have been on from the beginning.

NAF 12 June 2010 07:48 PM

He's not bad for a guy of 52 ;)

Funkii Munkii 13 June 2010 12:33 AM

What no comments on that crap from England or has it mitgrated to NSR :lol1: for all the part time supporters.

Carragher should have stayed retired, King should never have got on the plane, "I'll play back to back games for England", cant even do back to back halfs, Shawn WP, rubbish, Lennon Rubbish, Heskey one good pass otherwise rubbish. I know we usually get better as tournaments go along but cant see it happening for England, as for Green, cheers mate there goes my cash.

Capello must be regretting not taking the Inter job :lol1:

I see there is no mention of Rooney in your expert summary there FM? God he had a cracking game last night didn't he?

As for Heskey, the boy done good. He won every header, held the ball up super bely, bossed their centre halves and made a goal. Get off his back.

For once i agree with you :freak3:.I couldn't believe he played James Milner for the start when he been ill for the past couple of days, then he made it worse by bring on SWP to replace Milner on the left when he got Joe Cole who plays in that position on the bench :wonder:.

Funkii Munkii 13 June 2010 01:25 PM

Boll0cks to Heskey, still after all these years he hasn't learned the off side rule.

Rooney, provide the man with the ball and he might have a crack, he ended up having to come back into midfield to get the ball FFS.

Carragher is too old and too slow, clear for all to see last night, he will be seriously embarrassed by better opposition.

I'd like to have seen Cole also.
MOM had to be Gerrard for me, that's the best I have seen him play for ENG for a long while, seems the armband has inspired him

Bravo2zero_sps 13 June 2010 04:25 PM

I agree with you FM it was a shocking display, i was holding back on slagging off. How Lennon can be considered better than Walcott I don't know. Heskey couldn't scorein a month of Sundays. Rooney had zero service. Lampard might as well not have been on the pitch. The back 4 couldn't defend any set piece or high ball. Gerrard played superbly as he played in position for once it's a joke when he is put out on the left when we have Cole for there.

There is no creativity in the team zero flair and they need to improve massively.

alcazar 13 June 2010 04:41 PM

Rooney? Ran around like a headless chicken. Useless.

:wonder: Hmmm, maybe not so bad after all :lol1:

Turbo2 14 June 2010 09:49 AM

Not my fault Guv

So the reason that Heskey missed that golden opportunity on Saturday was due to the new world cup ball:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/wor...-miss-USA.html

Heskey's quote: "the keeper (Howard) stood up quite well. I just tried to get as much power behind it as possible because these balls do move around. He has done well but he is lucky it has caught him right in the midriff"

So now we know why Heskey's goal-scoring record for both his clubs and country has been so abysmal over the years! He's under the impression that your are supposed to hit the ball straight at the 'keeper and expect him to dive out of the way and let it go in (like Robert Green, I suppose ;)). Maybe Capello should have a friendly word in their ears and we'll perhaps do a bit better next time.

Turbo2 14 June 2010 09:53 AM

I hope Green's mistake doesn't end up costing us a tie with the Germans in the next round as Group Runners-Up. They looked much better than England last night and must surely win their Group.
