scoobytyson 23 May 2010 07:50 PM

I was there today in my clio cup, i won the standard fwd class :thumb:, was very hot there today which did my tyres no favours at all :lol1:

gussy 23 May 2010 10:20 PM

Well done Rob I heard on the grape vine that Bez had problems with his gearbox today as well.where there more cars running at this round ?

scoobytyson 23 May 2010 10:41 PM

Yes there were a few more scoobies and one more evo there today, still only around 20-25 cars there though

Yeh his gearbox locked up just before finish line, he called RAC to recover him... hope he's not still there.
Good day had by all I think roll on next month.

chrisTOTB 24 May 2010 10:22 AM

anyone got the full results yet? want to see how i did overall with my 48.9 run.

great fun, way too hot tho for pushing cars around all day! :-)

Jay m A 24 May 2010 03:12 PM

48.9 would have been just outside top 4

I qualified 2nd behind the Evo with a 48.0, went into the 47's in the final but wasn't fast enough!

Roll on next month

It was certainly more competitive, of the 25 or so cars there a vast majority were in the modified 4wd class

Looking back to the April results and only 5 scoobs entered (2 in modified) you had to wonder whether the scooby champoinship would take off, but yesterday proved its well worth it - I'd wager there will be 25+ cars in 4wd modified class alone at the next round.

The event was very well run, a good spirit shown by all IMO

chuffed with top 5 overall if thats how it came out. :D
i managed to spin on the last bend on my best lap of the day, felt much faster than my 48s run and i was sick as it felt like a 47s was on the cards but not to be. mine was the rwd lola replica so i was interested in a direct comparison to the quick 4wd cars out there.

circuit was very good i thought, quite challenging (particularly the last bends!)

did the full set of results get sent out last round or was it put out on straightliners site?

Jay m A 24 May 2010 04:04 PM

Oh yes, I was in the queue 1 ahead of you for the last run, I was the one that chatted to you about my old Westfield

I believe your time was best in class, but IIRC it didn't quite work out for you in the final!! Sorry I assumed you were in 4wd mod class, great time for the Lola rep :) In fact it probably was close to 5th overall, there was 1 Pro Evo that had a 47 IIRC

Hopefully the full set of results will be posted on straightliners soon, I still don't know what my final time was, except it was a 47.something

chrisTOTB 24 May 2010 04:47 PM

wil be interesting to see all the times once available. got a bit giddy on that last bend again in the final ! lol
car was backing into that bend under braking all day was a mare to get round it at more than a plod but lesson learned, steady as she goes would have won it in the head to head, i was 4s faster than neils 200sx to that point! ooops!

Hi thanks for the comments the results will be up on the Straightliners web site this evening with any luck,,, we have only just got back from Elvington at 5.45 today we have been reparing the frost damage on the main runway we have laid 4 ton of tarmack and we are knackered
We are having a new Straightliners web site and it will have a new dedicated Grudgement day section for you should be on line by the end of the week

I have also been offered 2 new venues for our Grudgment day events so watch this space ,,,,,Trev

JimmyBFC 24 May 2010 06:18 PM

Was a well run event and really enjoyed it, i got lumped in pro class cos I had a spare set of wheels to run, didn't really want any bad feeling of being in modified in case no-one else did the same thing.

On road tyres I just struggled with understeer pretty much everywhere, I had to take 3 corners in 1st gear ffs!

The pirelli rally slicks in the afternoon were very grippy and with a few tweaks the understeer was all but gone nearly.

Really enjoyed the track layout, some very understated bends that caught a lot out by the looks, roll on june 20th, hopefully more cars there, altho I won't complain as we all got loads of runs I suppose.

1001 18 June 2010 05:40 PM

Time to dust off the evo and take her back to ELVINGTON...:D

JimmyBFC 18 June 2010 05:58 PM

Looking forward to this, got a bit of front clunking, either drop links, coilovers, or diff bolts.....thats my excuses ready lol.

Car still drives ok though and should be fine on the flat of elvington, would like to see a few more straights instead of the tight corners where all the quick spooling brigade have a major advantage, but saying that last time was very enjoyablke and once you've got a few laps under yer blet you know what to do.

Roll on sunday, nice dry weather.

scoobytyson 18 June 2010 10:08 PM

Is it gonna be an evo 1,2,3 then ;)

JimmyBFC 20 June 2010 06:48 PM

Scoobs got their revenge today, some top drivers and top cars on display, all giving it some, I struggled on goodyear f1's then got a decent time on the slicks, kept making mistakes though so couldn't get lower than mid 35.5's....was a bit of a dog of a track to learn, tbh, and that last bend was just evil/a b'stard lol

dunx 20 June 2010 07:10 PM

Another good days fun !

Well done to "locals" Arf & Ellie for filling the third & fourth places in modified 4WD.

dunx
