The RS isn't invincible (does that make it vincible :wonder:) ;) hadn't the RS owners better wind their necks in?

TX.

maydew 05 August 2009 01:11 AM

True. but they are out of warranty, potential money pits though. At least with a new car, you only have to tax, insure, service and feed it Optimax for the first three years.

A 5 year old £100k car still needs looking after like a £100k car.

:lol1: i thought the ultimate chav car was a scooby

muthaducka 05 August 2009 09:32 AM

What did my wife day when she first saw my scooby - Chav car. And my boss at works opinion... - it looks a bit chavvy....

Who cares as long as you are having fun be it sti, wrx, ST, RS - buy the car for you, not someone else.

Well said, I agree. :thumb:

Personally I love cars, especially fast ones, never really understood some of the attitudes of how some people have to defend the honour of the car they drive and insist it's the best car on the road....ever.

Matteeboy 05 August 2009 11:42 AM

So Mountune ST "rapes" RS. Then, a few days later, RS meets ST in a dark alley accompanied by "Big Al" the 7ft 20 stone hulk of gay man flesh. Big Al then sets to work and ar5e rapes ST for all it's worth with massively superior handling and chassis set up

I think that sums it up.

I saw an ST being driven VERY badly yesterday by some muppet. I think he was trying to impress me (he passed dangerously in slow moving traffic and clocked the badge/twin pipes) I reckon - constant flooring it then heavy braking in very slow moving traffic.

Please Focus St, don't go the way of the Impreza turbo...

J4CKO 05 August 2009 12:08 PM

Waaaay to much arse and raping in this thread....

whats sad about that, thats great news but i dont want one,
it has been said allready they could cost a lot to own and i fancyd a new car, never had one before loved the RS

people will allways say well you could of had this or that

i could of had a 10k scooby and probably be just as happy with it and had a good holiday and a new kitchen
but im happy with the RS

will_wrx 05 August 2009 05:57 PM

How can people say that Focus ST's handle better than Impreza's? LOL. They may be easier to drive, but they definitly do not handle better, its just fanboys that say that.

I was going to buy an ST, was 100%, until I drove one, they are ****.

The RS is a bit weak in person, from all the pre release pics it looked awesome, then I went to my local dealers and had a look, hate it. They keep ruining their "performance" cars by making them with FWD.

Impreza for me every time.

You drove a duff one then they aren't that bad at all for FWD and a 2.5 up front. Do need the Ford Approved Eibachs though.

If it handled so bad, how come it made it round the 'ring in a half decent time ;)

so the RS looks weak? the guy from evo said in all the cars he has been in, no other parts traffic like the RS with its mean looks and id have to agree

when was the last time sombody stoped you to take photos of your wrx ;)

Matteeboy 05 August 2009 06:36 PM

All Focuses handle well - from the 1.4 to the RS.

I preferred the handling of a ST170 to the latest ST though - nimbler and lighter feeling. Newer one feels a bit nose heavy but still handles very well. Shame the ST170 engine was a bit cack.

The WRX does grip well - especially it the wet. Whether it has better handling is a matter of opinion. My Clio Cup handled better than my Impreza. It had less grip, but it's handling was more fun.

Steve

Matteeboy 05 August 2009 06:50 PM

I think the Impreza grips well too but a Focus does feel more nimble - I feel I can clip every apex perfectly in any Focus - with an Impreza I don't feel quite as accurate.

Many confuse grip with handling - Audis are the masters of grip over handling (except in RS models).

Steve

those clios are pretty good handling wise.

i had bc coilovers set up at powerstation on mine not saying the sti dont handle well because they do very well, just feel the focus has really good driver feel even compared to 380bhp scoob. They seem to turn in really well dry/wet. just miss the anti lag lol lol

Ford Focus RS laps the Ring...........

..... Focus RS laps the Nrburgring | Car News | evo

Here you go girlies!! :lol1::lol1::lol1:

Spec'c'57 06 August 2009 02:24 PM

:wall: :p and what has that got to do with anything? :cuckoo:

;) i love driving the RS and prefer it to some french tat. :lol1: That is also an out and out track car, the RS is a sensible (more sensible than the noble was) Fun family car.

nisr227 06 August 2009 04:05 PM

The ST hardly 'rapes' the RS in the evo article lol, it beats it to 100mph in about 10th of a second quicker which is not noticable on the road in the right gear, give it some corners and the RS would have far better traction and grip due to its better chassis and diff to cover ground somewhat quicker.

Its a matter of opinion which is the better to own if you wanted the choice, some prefer the quicker and mad looking RS, some would want the ST Mountune in a subtle silver to not stand out. The RS has more character, probably hold its value well and be sort after, and is a better base car for further mods, so in my opinion its the one I'd want when new, but then again I'd consider the new R26 Megane (what ever it will be called) or JDM FD2 Civic too if I was in the fwd market.

Both deliver great thrills along awesome roads like most hot hatches do, what ever you've got or want, just go out and play and enjoy..

Janspeed 06 August 2009 05:25 PM

It's hilarious how serious some of you numptys take this thread!!

Most of you dont even own any of these cars!!! :lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:

Matteeboy 06 August 2009 05:50 PM

I don't own most cars but have driven all but the RS mentioned in this thread...

jameswrx 06 August 2009 06:40 PM

Nice bit of torque in the new FRS though, thread on passionford where they fitted exhaust, panel filter, different intercooler (I think he said) and plug in ecu piggy back thing and it made 402ftlb

Matteeboy 06 August 2009 06:49 PM

Hmmm - big torque is fun. Very fun...
