Sorry.... missed your other question.
4-500 dyno runs...... it is called development. ;) |
i will go for my top figure but will see how the 400bhp get me are the md321h.s good for 400 torque it.s really the torque i am after i will go with that and lighten the car with some carbon goodies
|
Shaun I always expect to much but I would never boot mine fully on the road as it will ave you as I said earlier ;) but to give an idea of my car, steven darley reckons my car will have his stripped out wagon on the roads and since he has driven both :) But I still want mine to be quicker :D I actually drove on a single track country road at 85mph and bottled it after that as I didnt want to end up in a ditch? David wallis has drove at 140mph on virtually the same roads, I was just trying to see how bad it was :D
You don't have to keep telling me how the cars react on the road as I do know ;) |
scoobzie if I were you I would buy an md321t+ as it will do 500bhp on meths but it will also drive nice at lower bhp and will be the same price as the 321h but you will also futre proof yourself a little. I really can't understand on how you can jump from say wanting 550bhp to just around 400bhp ???? Do you actually have any modifications on your car at the moment ????
|
i have been in a cossy with 550bhp a friend of mines has a newage with 400 its fast but i am all about speed and the cossy was just plain wicked if i could accompilish the 10 second 1/4 mile car with the wicked side of that cossy then i will have what i set out to get but i am just trying to find out as much info before i spend any money the way i see it as all or f7ck all
|
As I have said to get a 10second car in a newage sti you need 600bhp and say £20k and that would be sourcing 2nd hand stuff and probs a very long time off the road! 500bhp could be done for a lot less and still be in standard turbo fitmnet. with 400bhp in a newage sti I would seriously think its a high 12 second 1/4 mile car so miles and miles from where you want to be. Also of your friend has a 400bhp car I take it yours is standard ??? Keep well away from the higher bhp figure as its not a toy :D
|
steve i just sold my classic as this was my plan for that but i prefer the newage i have just bought the car and collect it on friday so it,s to be a long drawn out build that,s whay any info i can source just now is better in the long run
|
Buy a 1000cc bike, its cheaper :D
Tony:D |
just trying to think of obvious spend on say my car/others and this doesn't include any fitting. I haven't even started to get into parts and there is about £11k worth there and there is absolutely loads more needed ontop of that plus fitting. I think £20k is well pushing it on the cheap!!!!
fmic £1500 ecu £1500 engine £4000 inlet manifold £600 cams and valves £1300 porting of heads £500 turbo £1000 clutch £1000 |

http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSCF0003.jpg this is the car i have purchased |
If I were you I would just add a full decat and get it tweaked before you think of any other mods!
|
Andy F has almost managed a 10secs quarter in his newage bug spec c and that is running under 500bhp, so I disagree that you need 600bhp in a newage to crack 10s.
Banny |
Is this another person picking up a bhp figure and not really thinking it through ?
Stick with 400 (450 tops) for the road for a car that is going to be on the road more than off and still in a reasonable budget. |
Banny,
A proper 550bhp and driver skill will see a full weight Newage in the 10's! :) Steve, I give up trying to discuss 500bhp for road use with you. You are right.... 500bhp is easy to drive and is absolutely fine for the road. :D |

the car will be getting a 2.1 stroker kit added with a md321t,engine fully forged, i also will be leaving it as a full road car but adding some carbon panels there is more to add but it gives you a rough idea
|
Have a look in the projects section on 22b. Morbs is running 10s (classic) on a 2.1ltr build.
If drag is really your thing: The Drag Race Car Sales Site :D |
I have a md321h on my newage, i am thinking of changing it to a md321t towards the end of the year as i want to aim for 450/400+ still running standard internals!

It made 385/375 on 10%meth, i suspect that the induction kit is holding it back as i think it should have made more power! I may have it mapped again with a different ic. |

Banny 550 newage even stripped out would struggle to get into the 10's, dam close but not quite. Add Toyo 888 rubber and a dam good launch then maybe just |
ah the special 1/4 mile map ... :lol1:
|
I have bought a set 17' wheels in the hope of helping 1/4 times?

Steve,
Dare I say, you may be heading for stress. You seem a bit hell bent on a 10sec pass, but based on your last performance you were way off, which *seemed* to be down to driver skill. Just practice with what you have mate! :) I know John Curistan did a 11.02 with 550bhp on a 35. Full weight Newage. Richard Bulmer also (well... his 1/4m driver did lol) did a 10.8 in a MY02 RA, but full interior with circa 570bhp. But..... these guys can drive the 1/4 well and are brutal with the gearshifts. I get's harder... not easier! :D I REALLY do hope you get it mate! :) |
I don't think I'm gonna get anywhere near a 10 sec pass as you said I don't think I'm good enoughbut the wheels are more about not ruining my 18" tyres as all the spinning off the line won't make them last long and 17" ones are cheaper :D. I'm also getting rid of my quickshift as that may be the cause of sooo many missed gears ?? The car will also do a little bit of dieting as I have taken the leather trim out temporarily and I'm going to fit some light weight seats in for track days. The leather seats weighed 4 stone each! So the car should be down to its proper weight of say 1350kgs soon :)
|
Which gears are you struggling with.... 3rd / 4th?
|
Everyone apart from 1st :D
|
You alright on the road etc?
The reason I ask, is because I struggle in the Spec C at times, when I am trying to rush the change. I have been advised to double clutch. |
3rd to fourth is stright forward. its fourth to 5th in a 5 speed ppg box thats hard
