53 plate blobeye, sold it within 2 months and went back to the classic, and kept the £5k change :)

On a non scoob, fitted EBC greenstuff to a Scirocco. What a complete pile of cr@p. 4 times the cost and bugga all difference, in fact worse. But still better value than the Blobeye LOL

EBC RedStuff pads. Total load of pony! Stopping power reduced, grinding noise as soon as I touch the brakes and damaged brake discs too.

Meh.

scoobmj 24 February 2009 11:28 PM

ALi-B 25 February 2009 01:05 AM

Also Braided brake lines...changing the fluid made more difference.

ebc = ****e

but the braided lines i dont agree with, made a huge difference on my car.

think only waste i've had to my car so far was having it mapped with cat still on it, two months later cat off and remap lol added 20bhp though

can i ask what was wrong with your gearbox that you didnt need a new one?
my one has started crunching going into 4th not sure what to do next?

For me, I noticed the most improvement when I flushed half a litre of fluid through each corner of the car before I changed the lines.

I did the lines shortly after. Was disappointed. Despite another 2litre flush and bleed of fresh fluid.

Does make me wonder if the difference noted by others was attributed by the fluid being changed at the same time as the lines being replaced?? Or maybe their rubber hoses were past their sell-by (my rubber hoses were only two years old). In which case would the brand new rubber hoses costing half as much make the same difference?

Not me as just purchased my classic wagon but a really pointless ecu monitor computer in place of the top glove box abouve the centre vents... I just want somewhere to put my phone and sun galsses  ... oh and it doesnt work properly anyway, anyone want it, ps3i ecu digital ecu monitor.

Any the famous old EBC drilled and grooved disc with redstuff wood blocks, no feel **** stopping power, bac to oem discs with some decent pads when I have killed thw redstuff pads, which shouldnt take long with the EBC cheesgraters wearing them down. Had some Performance friction pads on my Evo VII they were :notworthy

Apart from that a magnex back box which looks ok, but sounds great. :D

Me too except it took me 4 years of being in constant denial until I realised the classic was (for me) actually the better car.

andy97 25 February 2009 01:51 PM

I have spent the best part of £15k and have created a monster car which you cant really drive daily. Ive not used hardly at all this year or last, been too busy. Dont get me wrong when I do drive it, I get tingles from the performance. In the cold light of day, I could and should of spent it on something else-

says me with a donor sti4 sat on my drive! :)

fmp 25 February 2009 01:54 PM

nothing with my scoob. taken my time and chosen mods so far well.

last year tho i put around 12k into my Time Attack Clio, to be destroyed by some far quicker cars in my class (damn those TVR race cars and Porsche GT3 RS's!! lol)

If you're the Clio I saw on track at Brands (Auto Tuner/Time Attack) last year you'll be glad to know that, although you may not have been the quickest car on track, you looked like you were having the most fun!

iwamascooby 25 February 2009 06:00 PM

wind deflectors cost 2 much added loads of unwelcome noise and couldnt have the windows down even a little when it rained!

Really? I'm thinking of fitting a set, as i damaged the paint slightly removing the old broken ones. I only had the car a day with them fitted.

WRX Blues 25 February 2009 06:07 PM

Here's mine

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...your-help.html

Cost me three times as much as the bleedin' thing itself to get the gunk fixing it on removed:brickwall
Even worse was that some S'netters took my post a little too seriously and starting giving me grief for 'running from a potential accident':Whatever_

yup, that was me!

Decided that seeing as i wasnt quick enough to be competitive, i may as well have a good time! :D

bish667 25 February 2009 06:52 PM

Biggest waste of money mod i did was buy a E-Tech Universal Alloy spoiler, had it fitted to a nova, didnt really like it but after paying £140 for it i thought i'd better keep it on.
Must have looked a right tit :lol1:

Worst thing about it is i still have it in the loft cos cant manage to get anyone to pay even a tenner for it. shows how much people want them on their car.

Recovery Ray 25 February 2009 08:34 PM

Purchased PRODRIVE S/S FRONT GRILLE,instead of buying a spin dryer!!!

Having to wear damp clothes now!!!.

Why when i brought the subject up with you lot,NOBODY stopped me!!!.:wonder:

I lie, only DUNX helped!!! (saving up for dryer as i,m starting to rust),and who needs mud flaps anyway, Cheers mate.:)

scoobmj 25 February 2009 11:57 PM

i think this thread has highlighted who started the credit crunch.....us lot!!!

but of course they are absolutely essential buys at the time, coz i really need my KITT replica!...honest :Suspiciou

cookstar 26 February 2009 12:18 AM

Another one for EBC brakes, absolute pish. You could get your finger nails in the cracks after a couple of months.

joz8968 20 March 2009 03:52 PM

First, I paid over £700 for everything(!) on the Subaru service schedule... then 4 months later a big-end went! So, panicked and needed a cheap fix, and made the BIIIG mistake of getting an SMR replacement engine (didn't know any better at the time :cuckoo:) and got Zen to fit it - total all-in cost £1635. Then, quite recently, head gasket of the SMR engine went :Whatever_ and when engine opened up, the bores were scored/rusted also :Whatever_ :Whatever_... so had to spend out on a PROPER Zen rebuild this time.

So if you factor in that service and the SMR engine/fitting, I wasted well over £2,300 - pretty much the price of this proper Zen build! So, I fell into the classic trap of not doing it correct first time round, and ended up paying TWICE! :brickwall:Whatever_
