I may have come across rather strongly before... I would also want to beat the cr@p out of him but it solves nothing, and ends up getting you in trouble while he gets off (and possibly even gets damages from you). He carries on driving like a tosser knowing that the last person who objected to his driving, got banged up. Besides - what happens if he has a knife, or a gun, is a better kickboxer than you, or has 4 mates in his car all with baseball bats? |
I would get an old Range Rover V8 from the scrappies, weld some suitable macho-man bullbars up from old scaffolding, fit fake number plates, take a day off work but still do the usual commute, and take him off the road. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
But then again that's just the kind of person i am. Should lock me up then i guess. just getting my coat... Owain McRae. |
Integra - I understand & agree with you...cheers.
Oxbow - never thought of that one..good idea though. AWD - look at Stuart H's reply....so how come no comment there then?? Stuart H - apologies for quoting you on this one. Everyone - I am a very quiet, non-confrontational type person, who will always try to resolve issues without violence. But my point was that their are some individuals who deserve it. Point taken about using violence, hey I'm not stupid you know & anyone who thinks I am......step outside http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif [This message has been edited by hooksin (edited 23 January 2001).] |
Burning? I'm confused? What do you mean? Why should I comment on Stuart's post - he didn't suggest dragging the guy out of his car and beating him up. You may be mild mannered and try all other alternatives before violence - but your initial post did not suggest this - that was why I responded to it. |
I don't understand what you said about Stuart's post and burning being the same as beating up. Now that has been edited from your post. Please explain. |
Stuart suggested "do the *******"
so why did you deem it necessary to attack my comments but not his?? |
I commented on your post and not Stuart's for the following reasons: You said: "In my experience, there can be only one solution with a guy like this - a good right-hook without any words exchanged. I know it's an obvious answer(and not always the right one, so the wife keeps telling me) & I have used this solution many times before...." Stuart said: "do the *******" I understood Stuart's post to mean "follow your complaint up with the police, your company's HR, email to company people, and all other options that are WITHIN the law". (Stuart please correct me if I have misunderstood your post). There was no interpretation required for your post, and even less for the later one which said "My point was that sometimes that is the ONLY way with some people and I stand by my comment. If someone endangers my life with a stupid driving manouvre, then does it again I would pull him of of his motor & give him a good-kicking!!!" Stuart was recommending doing everything within the law to get the guy done for dangerous driving, while you were suggesting not saying anything and beating him up. |

<B>Stuart suggested "do the *******" so why did you deem it necessary to attack my comments but not his??[/quote] I'm afraid Hooksin, that indicates your thinking clearly... I'm sure everyone will agree (especially Stuart) that he actually meant "deal with them with the full force of the law". N'est Pas? |
|
you interpret Stuart H's comment(sorry again Stuart) "do the b******" to mean:
I understood Stuart's post to mean "follow your complaint up with the police, your company's HR, email to company people, and all other options that are WITHIN the law". (Stuart please correct me if I have misunderstood your post). Just how did you come to that conclusion then?? So my comments earlier could be interpreted as "have a quiet word in his ear about the stupidity of his driving actions with a stern warning" then couldn't it?? |
..errr no !! "Do the b******" is an ambiguous comment and I based my interpretation of this on Stuart's previous postings and the fact that he has never (to my knowledge) ever suggested doing anything that was outside the law. Your comments were not ambigous at all and hence there is no need for any assumptions in understanding their meaning. |

AWD - take your points onboard, lets call it quits eh??
I take it Stuart H is in the force or connected?? how was I supposed to know that? anyway does that mean that I'm off your xmas card list now?? |
Hooksin, why would Stuart post all that legal information on this thread...
...To tagline it with a blithe invitation to commit a serious offence ? Sorry, Gza - This is getting silly. |

Yes - Stuart is one of the boys in blue. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Sorry work gets in the way of my posts...And I tend to miss the boat.
Can we all be friends now? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif ? |
|
I wasn't angry - I enjoy a friendly argument. No hard feelings anyone - I know I sometimes come across a bit strongly with some views. I did karate from age 13 until 26 (only 4 years ago) and I am very wary of resorting to violence. I have seen too many people get into trouble for defending themselves (with knowledge of martial arts against a moron on the streets), let alone starting trouble. |
ok guys -
better get some work done now anyway. |
Er, stupid pointless "joke" made by me, think Ill remove it, didnt realise that everyone had made up, please continue...

IntegraR,
you've got us all wondering now... |
Continue arguing dammit!! its just getting interesting.
and hooksin, you think you're Ninjitsu will help you? please, you must be dreaming, I will engage in an internet battle of words the kind that hasnt been seen since Hannibal crossed the Alps shagg1ng an elephant!! Na, continue making out, I mean making up, but if there are going to be any love scenes, I dont want to know about it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |
Whoa – down boy *cracks whip* nearly had a runaway post there guys. Luckily I have ridden to the rescue http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
At least you made me laugh – and I will be sticking to the “within the law” methods of teaching this guy a lesson. Although I must admit I did consider the Range Rover + scaffy poles idea – nice one http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Was afraid I might hurt the labrador in the back though Will let you know the outcome.... |
Can't be ar$ed to read all this thread but the first few posts give the general view of what it is about.
As the guy works in your company does he use a company car. If he does then he is likely to get a severe warning from the fleet guys about the way he has been seen driving by independent witnesses. From the experience of several friends a few years back they take a dim view of this type of behaviour because of the amount of grief it causes them with paperwork etc. In one case the fleet department took the use of a company car away form a mate of mine because of his record with speeding offences and damage to the car because of his crap driving, parking dings and loss of mirrors being prime examples. Perhaps your company would view the issue being discussed in the same way. Hope he gets what's due without hurting others Yex |
Whoa! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif The things I miss when I'm at work!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
By "do the b******" I was referring to the possibilities with the chunks of the Road Traffic Act and CPS Charging Standard (which I managed to recall despite one or two Stellas http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ) not that you should go out and stick your fist so far down his throat that you tear the label off his underpants! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Hooksin, I thought the occupation in my profile might have given the game away!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by Stuart H (edited 23 January 2001).] |
Gza, you couldnt just keep it clean, could you.
First chance you get, you're bringing up whips, and labradores "in the back". Na, hope it all works out, and just do what you can legally, and then let it go. Try and avoid him, now you've done what you can, your conciense is clear, so dont put yourself on the line with this idiot, hopefully the cops will catch him and give him a cup of tea and a firm telling off http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |
Stuart H - just checked your profile now.....sometimes the obvious can be so far away..ooopps You say AWD was wrong and I was right then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ....hey only joking. I don't want to offend any of you guys in blue, you have a hard enough job as it is. My statement was a bit "in yer face", but I have been on this board 4 3 months now & havn't offended/argued with anyone http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif......also in my defence I drive 100 miles a day up A1, with idiots tailgating me with 50 cars in front, undertaking, abusive etc. Sometimes I just have to oblige, but I will take a deep breath & use my extremely high intelligence (discount the fact that I never thought of looking in the profile bit), & not retaliate anymore.....honest guv. |
