I reckon if you are going to do it be *really* careful, you could be opening a big can of worms. What if they expect a 'ride' every time they see you? you say 'No', what next?

Having said that I took my little step-brother out in mine (aged 8) and as far as he's concerned he's been in a rally car ;) big grins etc... (plus a Cosworth was shown Impreza tailpipe, which is nice :D )

The other thing I also thought about, getting the police involved?! Are you mad??? Do you think that they'll condone taking kids around and 'showing them what it can do'? I reckon you would be an easy booking if you go and tell them you are going to do it!

Do it. The reasons given for not doing it are valid - esp having seen the Jonathan King programme earlier. However since I and you (i'm sure) are NOT actually sick kiddy feelers, then everything is fine isn't it? Let bloody sanity prevail for God's sake!

The kids will love it (as I would have at their age) and they may be heard to say 'no not that one, he's an OK bloke'...

Gave a local lad a spin once cos he 'had it on playstation' and he was absolutely over the moon. It was warming...

As long as it is not for hire or reward you can carry passangers!

Mention it to the club leader first, and make 'em smile!

If the idea is to show the kids some tricks that the Police would be un-happy about then my advice would be 'Don't do it'.

Keep it legal or don't do it at all.

Like someone said earlier - you can take it easy by Scoob standards, keeping it under 70 etc, and still blow away an enthusiastic kid! Remember most kids are used to Mondeos, Astras, etc, and the sound, shove in the back, and g-forces will thrill them. Just make sure you get their parents' permission - imagine if your kid came home saying some guy in a Cossie had taken him out for a spin in the countryside :eek: Parallel situation...

Basically just let common sense prevail :)

My 5 year old girl loves "Scooby" and whoops with joy every time I accelerate hard onto the motorway. I am always telling her about not driving too fast and undertaking (when she insists we do so as there is a car in the way :rolleyes: )

She has now developed a habit of telling Scooby to slow down as he will get arrested by the Police :)

Do it as the kids will love it! Be safe of course (blah, blah, blah) I would have loved it at their age :cool:

I'd be tempted to take em out. But as mentioned above, get clearence with the youth club leader first(he can sit in the passenger seat).

Years ago, when I was at Uni we lived on a fairly rough street, with kids roaming around keying cars etc etc on a routine basis. However our cars were always untouched as we'd helped them fix their bikes up, taken them out for a spin etc etc. In other words we'd showed an interest in them, where maybe their own parents had not.

So in return we were put in the 'cool' catagory and so had no trouble with them at all. In fact they always made sure they kept our cars in view to make sure they were ok and nobody had dented one and had driven off.

As long as you take a youth club leader/helper with you, you should be ok.
