Fingers crossed for you mate, hope you find her and pups in good health.

David_Dickson 29 October 2008 10:32 AM

Well, six days after going missing, she turned up this morning, thin as a rake and completely filthy, but dry. She woofed down 2 tins of dogfood and a load of dry biscuits, then took off again. I followed her to a hole in a bank about 1/4mile away.

Rubbish phone pic using a torch as a flash.....

I counted at least 6 puppies, but its hard to tell for sure.

David_Dickson 29 October 2008 11:23 AM

Her name is Mirza.
I have stuff to do this lunchtime, but in the afternoon, I will go back dressed appropriately (its very muddy there, we had heavy rain last night) and see if I can get her and the pups out and take them back to the house.

STi Lou 29 October 2008 11:32 AM

Good luck later, heres hoping you manage to get Mirza and pups home so they are warm and safe:)
Thanks for update.

PG 29 October 2008 11:42 AM

It must be quite satisfying to know that your dog thinks so much of you to come to you for help.
Good luck with the pups.

Snazy 29 October 2008 11:44 AM

Well done mate, really happy to hear she and the pups are ok :)

Leslie 29 October 2008 01:34 PM

I am very happy for you and Mirza. Tremendous news. You may well find she will prefer at first to remain in the place where she had the pups. I have seen a mother and pups moved to a better place only to find that she took them all back to the original spot, hope you are successful anyway.

What will you do with all those young ones though?

Les :)

Thats brought a tear to my eye as a very sad story turned good!

Fantastic news buddy well done!!!

1 bit of advice tho and that would be to search the area as the time away from the pups 1 may of run off and may end up in trouble!

Lee247 29 October 2008 04:18 PM

Fantastic news. Puppy pics asap :luxhello:

David Lock 29 October 2008 05:01 PM

Where's dad then? :nono:

Borat_Drives_A_Scooby 29 October 2008 06:39 PM

This is superb news, dogs are amazing when you think about it, they are certainly intelligent and she seems very thoughtful, obviously you didn`t want her to go away and have her pups like she did out in the cold and on her own etc.

What a great way to log on to scoobynet and to be greeted by this brilliant news, you will have some fun with those playful pups :lol1:

Torquemada 29 October 2008 07:39 PM

Glad to hear that she's back btw :)

Scoobychick 29 October 2008 08:03 PM

After a fruitless afternoon spent lying in mud trying to coax her out again, I was set to give up for the day and returned to the house.
Surprisingly, she turned up at the door a few minutes later, so I shut her inside and dashed back to the hole with my improvised puppy-catcher - A garden hoe with some cloth wrapped round the end. I scooped the little ones out of their den and brought them into the house, where she lifted them out the box and into the nestbox I made for her.
All seem settled and happy enough.
The photos I took arent the best quality, as she is a little nervous about me handling them, so I just left her in peace.
There are 9 pups, a mix of black-and-white and black-and-tan.
some more pix here...
