So we are getting conflicting information again, it has been stated on this forum before by a top tuner that the ver8 engines have forged internal.

Jolly Green Monster 27 October 2008 10:29 AM

where has anyone said there not or that they are?

jd5217 27 October 2008 11:09 AM

I have read a previous thread discussing this (few months ago) and Paul from Zen confirmed they are forged on a ver8.

Jolly Green Monster 27 October 2008 04:48 PM

it hasd been posted above and I missed it

jd5217 27 October 2008 05:36 PM

will have to search back for the thread.

If 400 to 450 bhp was the limit on a version 8 sti,
what is the torque limit?? 400ft/lbs

what would need changed for a safe 450/450,
pistons and rods only?
Any idea what would this cost from a reliable tuner?

Shaun 27 October 2008 11:25 PM

Pistons initially.... followed by the rod's if you wanted to rev up to the full 8200rpm rev limit for the JDM varietys.

You could stroke the engine while it is out for reasonable money, we are currently selling a package utilising your block, a new 2.5 crank, forged rods and pistons built ready to pop your heads on for £1700.
This would be good for 600hp+.

dynamix 28 October 2008 10:20 AM

I stroke my engine every day.

Sounds like a bargain Martyn - how strong are the liners in there, will the block cope with 600 bhp+ ?

pot kettle black.

Wouldn't expect to have liner issues on 2 litre cars Duncan, of course it is all down to turbo choice and pressure levels.
Choosing a turbo that will support your power goals at a sensible boost level instead of running 2.5bar plus is a good idea.
This set up will certainly take all a T can throw at it.
