Only occasionally in the dry, I owned it from Nov-Apr. I didn't notice any difference in steering feel with DSC off, would I expect to? Mine had 19" Contisport. People say the PS2 or cups are better.

Hi John, i do find mine a tad lacking in turn in when the DSC is on, whether its because when its off, it ALLOWS the back end to help turn in i dont know, but its just the conclusion i have come to.

I also run the 19" contisports, with the front edges badly worn from understeer. PS2's going on this weekend for first time, but they are quite a bit more money.

Bizarrly it would seem, i have flat spotted the front tyres on this latest set, i can only put that down to travelling down the C roads near the new farm, and the ABS/Suspension cant keep up with the road undulations, and they are perhaps locking every now and then!

I thought you owned yours for longer, not surprised you didnt like it if they were the months of ownership :D

You still got the EVO?

I wanted to get rid after about a month but was putting off taking the depreciation bath. I ran the taps for the bath after a Subaru sport handed me my ass on the road near Knockhill in the pouring rain, I only kept up because of the power advantage on the straights, I couldn't stay in my seat and stop the tail wagging elsewhere. Nothing ever kept up with me on that road when I had my Subaru :D

Still got the Evo, still love it except the exhaust noise - new quieter exhaust coming soon. Not found a worthy replacement yet, it has been very reliable so far, tunes easily etc. Just looks a bit daft.

I was planning to get a wafter (fancy an XJR, LS430, 750i et al) as no single car can do both at sensible money, but Jane's factory closed 6 weeks ago, makes you not want to spend.

Its a bumpy road that one past the circuit :D

What MPG do you get out of the Evo?

Considering going back to AWD as where the new farm is, if it snows, i would need to tow the M3 2 mile before i got to a main road :D :D

It is a bumpy road I used to enjoy in the Subaru too :)

I get about 25mpg mixed use out of the Evo, same as the M3.

I read on pistonheads that the facelift E90 would have x-drive and fancied a 335xi, as the engine tunes to 400 BHP nicely. According to the dealer though, it continues to be a LHD only model. Whilst it has open front and rear diffs it still gets rave reviews from the Amercians.

If you saw the unclassified road and driveway i will have to start travelling down soon when we move to the new farm, you would understand why AWD would come in handy in winter, it really is bad!

So far i have only failed to take the M3 to work once, when there was about 6 inch of snow on the ground, so pinched the wife's Pathfinder, and it was interesting in that. The M3 couldn't get past the house!

The new drive has me worried though, dont think the M3 will get very far at all if it snows.

replace it with a audi rs4, power grip steering feel and poise. I am changing my scoob and looked at the m3 and the s4 , its gotta be the s4. For the best part of 10k I can easily have 450 bhp, with 4 x4 quattro grip, and all the luxuries i could want, its like my saab 9000 i used to have with more grip, and yes my saab would eat a m3 for breakfast on everything except a sharp corner.

Considered that, but when i got the M3 i tested an S4 and the driving position was sh1te to say the least, just like my business partners S3, its horrible. I am, however, reserving judgement for the RS4, but they are still too much money IMO, and i dont think they will match the M3's MPG capability.

must have been some serious modifications on the saab as the one i had was about 6 seconds slower to 100 than my m3 (both standard) my 330d is quicker than the 9000turbo.

anyway on topic ive just sold my M3 (insurance prices/petrol prices etc etc etc) and have gone back to a 330d (remapped of course)

The RS4 seems to be getting quite low power readings plus having DRC problems if you read RS246.

How does the 300d comapre with the m3, handling driving etc, real world driving should be fairly close, how many people do a 0-60 every day.

1999wagon don't fall into the trap that a 330d is going to keep up with an M3 in 'day to day' driving just because it's quicker 50-70 in top gear, etc. 0-100, 60-100 and 30-70 through the gears will set you straight.......in other words the 330d wouldn't know which way an M3 went!

When I had my VTS my dad had the original 186bhp 330d and through the gears they were dead even up to 100mph. In that same VTS I tried to hang with an e46 m3 down a sliproad and he gubbed me by margins best measured in football pitch lengths. He wouldn't have even known I was trying!!!
