Got £1430 from the site for my ZS180 which is quite a bit lower than the Subaru dealer who offered me £2400, which he said was rich by around £400.

To be honest thats all I was expecting and it doesn't matter cos she's mine to the end. :luvlove: I've been going to replace one of my business vehicles for the past 3 months but the new prices are tumbling so fast I've put it on hold...I reckon I've saved about £4k already. :) |
I get £1,335 for my type RA, maybe i should tell them am not just selling the closed deck block but the rest of the car too :lol1: ...shes not for sale anyway, speed for money you would struggle to beat an early RA :thumb:

it does say on that site, subject to inspection lol, which could mean they would pick as many faults with the car as possible and lower the price they give u.

seems that it might be worthwhile picking up a car in blighty then bringing it back to finland.
not so many scoobs in the local autotrader, no evo's at all. 1st advert: 2.5 STi Petter Sohlberg ed. III MY07, 27000 KM, manufacturers warranty -->2010, FSH, 2 sets of rims, PSE aerodynamic series, .... 46,900€ ---->£36,621 2nd advert: 2.0 GT Turbo STW MY00, 183000KM, FSH, 2 sets rims, Prodrive technic packet, dyno certificates, ......16,900€ ----->£13192 i'll stop there. but on the downside, if you were interested in the new STi STW, without mettalic paint costs and dealer costs .... 674000€ ----> £52622 only |

The new '08 + Sport pack I paid around £27,000 with the current exchange rate. Using the exchange rate from '03 it would be more like £25,000. Scoobies are still quite rare over here in Germany, yet Subaru tops the customer satisfaction surveys at the moment, so there is reasonably high demand vs supply. With the '03 STI, I lost exactly 50% of the new price over 5 years, so 10% PA depreciation is pretty good in my books! The problem in the UK is all the Jap imports over-supply the 2nd hand market, so there are plenty of cars availabile. Couple that with a car hating government that taxes performance car owners to death, the 2nd had prices are never going to be good in the UK! Before the Jap import market opened up, 2nd hand prices were great. Due to import restrictions, there was an 8-12 month waiting list in '98. I sold my '98MY UK Turbo in '99 just as they removed the import restrictions. Only lost £1500 from new over 13 months! Those were the days :) |
Pretty obvious the quotes given are going to be very low as they operate on the fact people are desperate to sell and cant get rid of it through a private sale or local dealer - just the same as if you are desperate and need a loan, a loan shark will charge a lot more interest than a bank.
But.... most cars lose the majority of their value in the first 3 years, so if you bought your car brand new for full price, expect it to be worth a hell of a lot less now than you paid. |
