Well, I think it's a great car!

I drove it 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic ....... :thumb:

I has no sat. Nav and no folding mirrors - which it should have on a £20,000 car.

This car may be a flop, interest free deals and cut price offerings on the horizon?

my only concern is that the STi will have to deliver a hell of a lot, the WRX precessors to this were not slow nor boring so can we really hope the new STi will bring that raw rally raison detre that we all love about it?

I hope so but its a far far cry (and step up) from this wrx is it not?!

How could anyone ever chose the impreza over the evo again?

The Evo is no great looker either though is it really? Compared to the aggressive styling of the outgoing 9.

rather have the new impreza (STI) over the evo anyday

Call me mad. But I think Kia's Proc'eed is pretty damed tasty. Certainly showed up other manufacturers - including Subaru :D

Just needs a meaty v8 and RWD....;)

Not bad, but a bit...hmmmmm....Toyota-ish :wonder:

EVO have slated both the WRX (2 stars v old cars 4) and the STi (3 versus the old cars 5) both as being too soft, rolly poly, and not focused enough.

I am very happy with my Blobeye STi, so in no hurry to change ... but if I was, it would be in order of preference:

Nissan GT-R
Evo X
then maybe an STi (but I am yet to be convinced)

Ah, but you see that's exactly why they changed the looks! They don't want it to say that anymore, and they don't want it appealing to a demographic that wants a car that projects that image. The WRX has been repositioned as a comfy family car that happens to be quick as opposed to a quick car that happens to accommodate a family.

If you want a proper performance car, you now have to go for an STi, which does undermine the marque's bargin bang for buck appeal as the STi is always significantly more expensive.

Remember Subaru didn't even want us to get the WRX and we're only getting them in limited numbers. I think Subaru wanted a head to head in the UK, one Scooby i.e. the Sti vs the Evo. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the STi, looks aside, is a blinder!

Funny that Bulldog at Twyford have changed the grille on both of their demonstrators and I admit the car looks better as a result . . . but its the EVO for me unless I buy the last 2 WRX imports for the same cost as one new EVO!!

T5NYW 11 December 2007 01:49 PM

you have to remember the UK wasn't going to get a "WRX" not untill late 2008 early 2009 although the "WRX" would be a Diesel.

UK was only getting the STi the Standard spec Sti was to be aimed at the UK "WRX" buyers and the Top spec/sports pack version to the UK "STi" buyers.

Dealers put pressure on IM/FHI to bring 300 "WRX's" into the UK

As said above the "2008 WRX" is aimed at a totally different buyer ;)

IIRC IMHO
