Yep, bought it from Anger, who posted the picture of it on his car earlier in the thread.

Wasn't too sure at first, but it has really grown on me.

jd5217 08 July 2008 01:02 PM

been tempted by one of these, but not sure about scoopless scoob.

stevie1982 08 July 2008 01:09 PM

in two minds myself

joekont 08 July 2008 01:10 PM

I'm the same Steve.
Head says yes, heart says not really sure.

I am very much function over form but is this a step to far on an impreza ??

Just looked at the price on RCM's website. £299...:eek2: Won't be getting one of them then!

Maybe an ebay special for £100..
Trouble is, they're more like an EVO scoop and don't look so good imho..

in carbon fibre sir???

Moley 08 July 2008 01:16 PM

I also find it has stopped the bonnet flapping up and down on the motorway.

RCM, Zen, and P20SPD all use them on their Time Attack cars.

jd5217 08 July 2008 01:16 PM

do not like those, if i got anything it would be the reverse slatted like on the Gobstopper.

I definately prefer the handling on 17"s, but the difference isn't too much.

jiffthejiffmanjaffa 08 July 2008 02:47 PM

I agree with others have said, an Imprez without a centre vent just looks weird.

When I get around to it, I'm gonna stick my oil cooler there so it will be function again anyway.

what do you find different about them, does it really change how the car feels that much in corners? or is it more the tramlining on the straight etc

Ginge ! 08 July 2008 04:48 PM

why hasnt anyone tryed mounting a airfilter box of some sort there, would tidy up the engine bay a little and get direct airflow and still work over 130 which is when they stop being efficent

just another idea

joekont 08 July 2008 04:53 PM

I don't think the extra pipework would make fitting the airbox there practical.
Interesting idea though.
Potential ram air possibilities. reducing the negative pressure in the airbox would make the turbo work more efficiently.

Both of both really, but mostly the tramlining

i was thinking of doing this, but a little different,,, making it like a air box with a few saxo panel filters si that theres no heat soak from the engine,,, though being there might be pointless

oil cooler is a bad idea when theres better places for it ( behind the bumper)

also as the vent stops working at 130ish,, the oil gets very hot at high speeds,,,, so would take away the benifit then but track use would be ok if though heat soak when on idle would also be a worry but would need to test to tell the difference

Ive found 18's feel like they turn in better and i did have 17's on for well over 2 years

so 18's get youtr vote then anger.

i am aware that the common ground is 18's look betetr and 17's handle better but do 18's really make that much difference on road and the odd track day

Good idea Ginge! Would be able to keep the air filter clean as well with all that rain we get in the UK! :p :D
