Does the mesh affect (reduce) air flow?

boultsy 02 February 2002 12:56 AM

I guess it could a bit, but so does bent fins on the rad.
Nothing to worry about though. What do you reckon.

Anyone got an air flow meter?

Scooby_Maxus 02 February 2002 12:58 AM

Boultsy looks great, snap- mines not got the spoiler mod though :(

boultsy 02 February 2002 01:18 AM

or the steel grills:D

Cheer Maxus, good choice. Off to dealer tomorrow to pick up that prodrive brochure, see what there's is like, how much.

I guess it cost around £30 all in

50x100 sheet of steel grill about £18 (Ali £21)
1 set of snips £7
2.5m of clear tubing to edge it and cover those sharp edges, black rubber would be better £1
can of lacquer £4
1 plaster, it's bloody sharp stuff 5p

and enough steel to go into full production.

boultsy 02 February 2002 01:24 AM

Oh, and it was all from B&Q.

and Mad don't tell anyone but it's not fixed in yet, been a bit lazy about that, it needs a clean first.
I'm going to use a clear sealer behind it.

Madman 02 February 2002 11:40 PM

Boultsy

You find anything out from dealers today

boultsy 03 February 2002 12:31 PM

Yeh, not really sure about it though. They've got a new top grill, which looks pants, you lose the depth that the sports grill offers and a lower bumper grill which looks.....erm...OK..probably looks better in the flesh though. I'll scan some pics at work tomorrow and post them.

I'm a bit confused about the pricing though, quoted £400 fitted, not sure now if that was for both or just the lower grill, must be for both, I'll confirm this tomorrow also.

Was hoping to have a look over the STi aswell but, have they got one, have they fcuk.

Madman 03 February 2002 04:12 PM

'ow much - BH - think I'll stick to your method Boultsy - watch this space there may be questions coming your way - no, change that, there will be questions :D

Corpulent Tosser 03 February 2002 06:36 PM

Des!, Des!, where are you M8? :D

Madman 03 February 2002 06:40 PM

WTF :p

DT 18 February 2002 08:14 AM

Interested in your grill mods Boultsy, been thinking of doing this myself when I find some cheap quality mesh. Subaru are having a laugh aren't they with their prices!!! For the lower one did you remove the bumper? How does it come off and how did you fix on the mesh?

Cheers
DT

boultsy 18 February 2002 08:38 AM

DT I'll post or email you tonight ok.

DT 18 February 2002 08:43 AM

Nice one Boultsy - cheers. I'm big into DIY at the mo, painted the headlamp innards, done the STi mesh Foglamp covers so the Mesh Grill is next.
