I think at 1st there was a stigma attached to reading the books hence the release of the "adult" versions,everyone seems to be reading it these days though. Our canteen was like a bloomin library today.

With kids leaving school barely literate, and adult literacy at a low just be thankful you see people reading at all:D

they good stories :) better than fillums and books about mindless killing and violence, these have a story, I guess thats whats wrong with adult books, all about sex and violence when an adult can enjoy a good magical story like kids do.

I decided to buy the last HP book (half blood prince) when it came out as I enjoyed the first two films, which were bought for my children.

They tempted me to read the book, so I bought it and thought I would just pass it to my children if I didn't like it, it was a good read and after that one I bought all the other books (so read them in the wrong order) the first two were nowhere near as good as the last few, but they do get better and appeal more to the adult not just children.

As for LOTR.... Hobbit was more child friendly IMO :) The trilogy was a harder going read and silmarillion even harder.

Something like HP is an easy read and a good escape from the crap in the world :)

Well I enjoyed all the HP books. The earlier ones were more teenager-focused, but the later ones (as JKR realised that she had a significant adult following too) are not so "young". Saying that there are still a few cringe-making moments.

Deathly Hallows brings them all together nicely, many loose ends tied, a few questions hanging around for the Potter-obsessives to wrangle on about for years to come :)

I know for a fact that kids who would not have dreamed of reading a book have picked these up and read them due to the hype, so all I'll say is well done JKR (and can I have a few bob please? ;) )

I read the Harry Potter books and I think they're great. I'm also soon to be a Doctor so you can't accuse me of reading them either, because I need to seem dumbed-down, or, because it was the only book I'm able to read.
I read adult books as well, but it doesn't make me less intelligent just becasue I enjoy HP. It's a great read. The Deathy Hallows is the best of the 7.

Kinda sums up this sort of thing to me, someone creates a cash cow and they want to milk it dry, I'm shore the films, books etc are fine but I get so fed-up with the constant advertising, you cant get away from it, even when there isn't a Harry Potter book due out or film, it constantly Harry Potter this Harry Potter that, put on the TV, harry bloomin potter and usually on the news too of all places!? now that's a marketing cue.
its the same with Transformers at the moment, thou I guess not quite to the same degree(great film buy the way:D ) I loved transformers as a kid:luxhello: but why do we have to have these things rubbed in our face so much that we get sick of sight of it?

You obviously have some issues of your own with punctuation- 'what's'. If the phrase 'people sucker' had been meant, there would have been a comma before it.

To answer your question the name 'people sucker' could probably be applied to you, although to be 100% correct it would be 'man sucker'.

well im 21 in 34 days i went and bought the harry potter book too i have the full set but the last one i bought in adults version instead of kids, ive not actually opened it yet because ive not read all the rest of them yet so i dont know what the difference is between the adult version and the kids version anyone know what the difference is without me having to open it??

Taking a wild guess here but I think the difference is that it will have a less juvenile cover on it so you don't look as much of a retard while you read it in public.

Oh and BTW Habgood if you want to appear witty or clever it's perhaps best to come straight out with the ripostes rather than adding them in on an edit some hours later.
