Ian, thanks for the link.

I tested 5 times (this hour) and got speeds ranging from 265 Kbps to 360 Kbps.

Considering the route it has to take from my place, that's not too bad ?

Route is:

Just tried the download site and I can't connect to it, sorry. Anyway to do a realistic download, you should really be using FTP, as you avoid caches!!

PeterUK300,

I'm not having a go here, but maybe you shouldn't have posted what you have in reflection to your biased links with BT. As you say your in a different division, but my view is BT is BT.

I always try and stay well away from recommending TW Broadband to everyone on here, as I feel that I shouldn't cause it's unfair. I'm bound to be biased!!!! I do however, try and support anyone that is either a TW Broadband, NTL HSi customer or even a BT ADSL user!!

Cheers Phill C

PS Honestly not having a go, but needs to be said ;)

PeterUK300 02 January 2002 08:02 PM

Babber

All the best
Pete

Pete,

But there's nothing wrong with being chuffed about the service that your getting, 512 kb/sec downstream is unbelievable after using a 56k modem connection for so long ;) Welcome to the world of fast internet access. You'll find a whole new use for the internet from now on..... I remember when I got my CM 15 months ago :D:D:D:D

You have to pay for it TW are just about to give the service to employees for free ;)

Thanks about the Broadband thread, just trying to help ;)

Cheers Phill C

PS and don't forget to download zonealarm at http://www.zonealarm.com I get my ports scanned regulary

ScoobyDan 02 January 2002 08:51 PM

babber,

The correct address is: http://www.2wire.com/services/bwm.html.

I've just tried it and got 284Kbps. I'm with NTL Broadband.

Hi All
Babber yes I do work for BT in Retail not Openworld, why it matters I do not know? From an ISDN to Broadband is wow speed wise.
I have yet to experience some of the criticisms made about the service and I hope I do not otherwise they will receive some nasty emails from within.....

Matt thanks m8. I wish I had done this sooner. However I did take advantage of the half price install. Although it is £40 a month! All indications are this will drop to £25 once the DIY option is available, hopefully sometime in Febuary. This is in trial now.
I tried to get on the trial but it is fully subscribed in London:(
and pretty much everywhere else.
All the best
Pete
