scooby tranny loss is more like 13% which makes yours about 320/325 which is more like it for the mods. i would add though that this is a pretty good figure for PPP remap, but going to andy i would expect good things to happen:D

13% I wish..!!!:lol1:

With all due respect, you obviously don't know what you're talking about..:freak3:

A well designed FWD transmission would be lucky to get only 13% losses, with RWD around 18% and AWD anything from 22-24% depending on gearbox and diffs etc..! :p

J;)

RLE 06 July 2007 01:37 PM

Agree mate. Note my graph on page 1. Stipulates loss allowance of 23%

Thank you Jasonius and RLE :thumb:

I love the fact that some members on here think they know more than the pros :lol1:

:lol1::lol1:

i was told this by a reputable mapper, don't know if you fall into this category, but i'll take his word for it ta:)

wheel horsepower + 13% will give PPProb 320 odd, which for his mods is a good map. no way it'll produce 350. sorry. headers and other work needs doing to get to that sort of figure.

unless the formula i was given equates to a 23% transmission loss, in which case i humbly apologise:)

Plus there doing a good deal on Type 25 suspention. Thats the plan that should sufice and kind of meet my needs/wants half way without spending too much £££, as I should be selling it in 2 yrs.

Alex

Alex,

Having experienced RLE's car at different stages of modification, personally i would definitely follow the 18G route, yes a bigger turbo can have slightly more lag than a standard Vf35 but with the right supporting mods (and a deep pocket:lol1: ) you should be able to acheive what your after.

18 & 20g are fairly notorious for turbo surge (confirmed by a reputable mapper!) so id probably suggest finding someone closer to you who has already modified to this level & be a cheeky git & ask for a ride to see for yourself, bare in mind tho that with more power you brakes will be under more stopping stress so you may have to splash out on bigger brakes!

RLE's car pulls like a train, i've been in some bloody fast cars over the last few years, but you certainly know when he taps the pedal!

Again this is just my opinion, and each to their own

so is the vf35 only capable of around 350bhp then. what would be an ideal bolt on replacement.

hardsy555 06 July 2007 08:58 PM

and where would you get that from and how much, and would that literaly just bolt on or do you have to make any adjustments and what would that give as apposed to the vf35.

you will be pushing to do it all for 2k, won't take too much more though.

Be prepared to take a hit on parts then sell the old ones on.

Andy F. does do px on turbo's so could be less than that £1000. Go see his web site. He maps well too! ;-))

TD05-18G - goes very well and little / no extra lag. I got TD05-20G and again little extra lag, 1 bar boost by 3200 rpm, 1.65 bar by 3600 rpm. Waste gate area is ported to reduce compressor surge.

Harvey does ported and wrapped original headers, worth some spool and bhp/torque, good deal if avoiding cost of tubular steel ones, and keep the scooby rumble!

£2500 followed by a thick ear from the missus and the the dreaded cold shoulder :( . Full track day at oulton park reminded me it was more than worth it :) . Still gettin the cold shoulder now but who cares ;)

gillyz20let 07 July 2007 03:20 PM

what sort of boost are you lot running to make that much torque?? mine was mapped at powerstation, hits 1.3bar and tails off to 1.25 up top and made 334bhp and under 290lbft

ported headers
3 port solinoid
prodrive d.pipe
full 2.75" milltek
k&n panel

MikeyTang 07 July 2007 03:55 PM

mine peaks at 1.4 bar

hardsy555 07 July 2007 04:33 PM

Andy.F 07 July 2007 04:37 PM

hardsy555 07 July 2007 04:47 PM

MikeyTang 07 July 2007 09:57 PM

If you map with Bob he will e-mail you your power output and power graph. I would imagine he gets the data from the mapping session
