I'll be backing the Scouse tonight :thumb:

COME ON YOU REDS (is that right? :Suspiciou )

I think thats the fair result tonight, Milan were always the favourites after destroying Utd in the Semis and Liverpool were poor in the 2nd half after dominating the 1st half. I think it was the wrong decision not to start with Crouch too.

So, before you mancs and chelski boys start blathering on about this and that, let me say here and now, WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY! :D We're in the final, you aint and win or loose, that aint going to change. :thumb:

Now, onto the game. Whatever the merits of AC are, and granted they are an exceptional side, I think we've won the mind games, before we turn up. 2005 must be a deep deep mental scar on AC, and Liverpool are really setup to counter their style. I'm predicting a really close match, with Liverpool winning in extra time, may 6-0 . :D

Ok, then 1-0. :lol1:

C'mon the Reds, make us proud. :luxhello: :luxhello:

Will the Liverpool fans admit Rafa was far too negative and got it wrong? Carragher had a nightmare. I'd go as far as saying he bottled it. Zenden.... he's terrible. Kuyt is average.

Overall I thought Gerrard tried and Macherano did a very good job.

Maldini is a football legend. amazing what he's done in the game.

AC Milan :thumb:...bet the bookies took a hammering:)

Total neutral here - no interest in liverpool or any english side but I genuinely felt sorry for the scousers tonight! I thought liverpool were by far the more positive team and played better football especially in the first half. Their second hand performance was largely influenced by the growing pressure of trailing by a very unfrotunate late 1st half goal against the run of play.

That said AC did everything right. They got the goal that counted (no prizes for dominating or having the run of the play) and then took the opportunity to seal the deal with a 2nd goal near the end.

Being a manc fan i was never going to support the jobless scousers, and after saying that whoever won between milan and utd would win the cup i put money on milan to win!!!!!!!! Get in there

ash1 24 May 2007 12:08 AM

so much for them being the better team, was this the same team that made manure look like under 16s ? no, but its ok, one deflected goal enough to win in.

Would have liked to see crouchster and bellamy have 30 mins

Cin, Cin. Prem title beckons for rafa.

feel like an opportunity missed yesterdy, Milan were pretty average, but have to admit we didnt have the end product with all our possession. Still rather have a crack at big ears than settling for the FA or Carling cup.

Will be an interesting summer.

Ted Maul 24 May 2007 08:42 AM

On the game:

Liverpools formation created domination in the first half without really being effective in the final third. Milan were the better team in the second half.

After the game:

I thought the Liverpool players, especially Carragher, were very gracious in defeat and were true professionals.

Fans that do each over for a ticket, mug innocent women and children, think nothing of using counterfeit tickets or storm the gates, and then want sympathy.

No lessons learnt. You must be very proud.

Bang on! Cant believe they stormed the gates. almost makes a mockery of the 96

Basically the fact is Liverpool lost because your manager is so negative. He changed his team to stop Milan and not try and win the game. For that reason I'm glad Liverpool lost. All the talk before the game was Gerrard and Kaka. Well one did naf all and the other won the free kick for a goal and set up the winner.

Another fruitless season over for the scousers :lol1:

what game did you watch? Here are some stats

Milan .....Liverpool

2 Goals Scored 1
7 Attempts on Goal 17
3 Shots on Target 4
1Shots off Target 10
3 Blocked Shots 3
4 Corners Won 6
16 Fouls Conceded 26
3 Offsides 3
2 Yellow Cards 2
0 Red Cards 0
21 Tackles 26
76.2% Tackle Success 80.8%
74.8% Passing Accuracy 70.2%

Attempts on goal from the Liverpool perspective doesnt exactly show a negative approach does it, although it does show the lack of accuracy which will be improved in the summer (hopefully)

Also if you look back over the course of the prem season, in the first half pre christmas I think you will find Liverpool actually created the most chances and had most attempts, however again the failings were accuracy or lack off.

the stats don't tell the story. speculative shots from distance. Didn't create one decent opening themselves. Any that came were from mistakes from Milan. If you have half a footballing brain you'll analyse the game on what you see and not the stats. It was clear in the final 3rd Liverpool were blunt!

Funny that. Can't say I saw anything of the sort. Still, maybe it did happen, but I'm not on here spouting rubbish about belonging to "the greatest fans in the world".

the stats show what I mention that they were blunt in the final 3rd.

I dont know how you can say they didnt create one decent opening, if you watch the game again, in particular the first half you will see quite a few openings especially around the right hand side of the box. This wasnt down to mistakes, just the amount of space in that area (and slow defenders)
