silver austin agrow that was pooow

Pug 206. Never again will I buy a french car. Gearbox failed day after warranty ran out and they refused to help, zorst rotted away, mutli changer failed, centre display failed, shocks leaked, top engine mount failed, drivers seat broke. All this happened within weeks of the 3 year cover running out. Sold it and went back to good old German engineering.

I spoke to a guy who had bought a 307 and he had a small black book of faults ranging from a replaced rear subframe due to tyre ware to a complete new fuel system inc pump and all lines. Worst car he had ever bought.

These cars are cheap for a reason, I will never make that mistake again. Pugs seemed to go down hill after the 306 came out for some reason.

My wife's dad had a 306 diesel estate(or whatever they called them) that covered over 200000 miles with only the head gasket failing and a couple of other bits in 10 years of use.

Vauxhall Chevette, shocking car, blew up on M25, shat myself

thomsop 05 April 2007 02:38 PM

A DAF!!

My mum gave it to me as a "reward" for passing my driving test.

Took me 5 years to regain my street cred:mad:

finalzero 05 April 2007 03:34 PM

Ford Escort. Everything about it was crap and so unreliable - hated fords ever since.

Rioja 05 April 2007 03:53 PM

Chevette was a great car; RWD, better suspension than an escort, but not much grip! Learnt how to control oversteer in my 1300, loved it for 2 years when I was 17.

worst, for what I expected, was a 1600 automatic 06 reg focus; slow, thirsty, bad handling and uncomfortable.

bootsy 05 April 2007 04:27 PM

mkr 3 escort what a pile of poo.i did'nt think ford could make a sh*tter car if they tried till i had a mkr 5 escort.

SPANK 05 April 2007 04:31 PM

CAVALIER L! 1.6 what a bucket of arse!

explore 05 April 2007 05:02 PM

R5 GT turbo, lets just say it fall apart

Markus 05 April 2007 05:03 PM

Worst car? Any Subaru Impreza

Thought I'd get it in before anyone else did :D

Alas it's a lie, really did like my WRX Wagon. Out of the other cars I've owned the worst, when it comes to faults, would be my Saxo VTS, which is odd as it's the car I miss the most. Had the interior sensors for the alarm go, couple of other odd niggles, weird nosies the dealer could not track down. Thankfully it was under warranty so I didn't pay for the issues to be resolved.

Close call between a TR7 V8 I had in the 80`s and a BMW M3 I had in the 90`s both very poor mechanically and dropped to pieces , great to drive on rare occasions but a shocking experience.

Another vote for a 1998 Pug 106 1.5D, oooohh the zest 2 model, blistering performance....top speed approx 85mph (with tail wind could nearly hit 95mph!!!(private airfield of course:thumb: )), 0-60...not even worth timing, the steed lasted me almost a year, only cost me an alternator, but in last few months of owning it started smoking badly, despite changing numerous parts, so got rid while still could! Never buying french again!

wayne's scooby 05 April 2007 05:38 PM

Ford Focus Rs.

Broke down Twice (ECU failure, then some sensor)

Torque steered under hard cornering. Seems only Honda do good LSD

Sold the f**ker, but didn't loose that much,. very high resale value at the time.

KostaJCW 05 April 2007 06:42 PM

2002 Clio 1.5dCi - purchased brand new and it started falling to bits in no time. Piece of ****.

tonybooth 05 April 2007 06:45 PM

MG Maestro Turbo with the 220 turbo engine in. Always trying to kill me . Didnt do corners, didnt stop. Rear arches were 90% filler. Had 3 of them but this one really didnt like me.

Scoobymart 05 April 2007 09:01 PM

:thumb: Yes you got it,another french car pug 307 HDI. We only had it for approx 6 weeks and had nothin but trouble with the thing, and the last straw was when the engine light came on due to a anti pollution fault and it was going to cost a fortune to put right. So i part ex'd the worst car on the planet.

Wosrt car i drove was a green volvo 343 gl. the brakes had a habit of sticking on much to the suprise of the fella i sold it to for 20 pounds. he got to shrewsbury in it and the thing seized up for good.

My first car - a 1990 Yugo Sana I inhereted from my great aunt. She'd only done a few thousand miles on it in the years up to her death, on the Isle of Wight. It was in mint condition, but a really, really horrible tractor of a car - manual choke broke off in my hand one cold morning, never ran properly for the first ten miles off a cold start, leaked... then I stacked it into a bridge understeering like mad one rainy night driving back from work. Funny thing was I flogged the twisted wreck for £200 to a guy from Dorset who had a great passion for all things from the former Yugoslavia.

danfranklin1 05 April 2007 10:03 PM

Just read the one about the MG Maestro which reminded me of my MG Montego, E-reg, black, no rear arches etc etc - but I've such fond memories - that thing never let me down, camping in cornwall, beer full of boot.. no, the other way round... ah, sweet nostalgia!
