It's comforting to know that I wasn't alone in my insomnia last night - was listening to ipod till 2.30am, nice chiled songs from Moby, Simple Minds, James, Prodigy...... ah, I see the reason for no sleep..... Smack Ma Bitch Up isn't really a lullaby is it.:freak3:

You were and probably still are very very pished  I guess if you're old (and I mean really old) Phil Collins songs might be ok, but if (like me) you're under 40, Phil Collins and that song, is a definate :nono:
:)

In The Air Tonight was on Dr Foxx (who, by the way, is not a real doctor) and his 50 feel-good tunes. Apparently the lyrics have a dark and sinister undertone - what does that mean? What is the song about?

There is a rumour it is about an incident which took place in Phil's youth, where a friend of his drowned. This is not true. It is more to do with emotions he had running inside as he went through a divorce. Anger, menace and bitterness all culminating in losing his temper as the drums come in.:)

Collins, Phil: In the Air Tonight

I can't stand Phil Collins... especially the fact that people think he is a good drummer because he does a very simple but loud riff in the middle of this song.

f1_fan 10 March 2007 07:35 PM

I prefer his classic 'Another day in paradise' where he sings about the plight of the homeless before running out of the country to live in Switzerland at the first sign of a semi-socialist government who might just want to tax some of his fortune to help the homeless :D :D

Give me Peter Gabriel any day, more talent in his little finger than Collins has in his whole body and one of the few artists for which a social conscience isn't just a fashion accessory!!
