OH MY ****ING GOD WHAT RETARDED TWATS HAVE ACTUALLY AUTHORISED A RELEASE ON THIS CAR?

What absolute ****s.

Sorry for the abuse but it actually makes me angry inside to see that car. Sigh.

Fair enough on this car, but they could release it under a different name, and carry on the impreza saloon design, then you have the best of both worlds.

Hawkeye is the best impreza made to date, and judging by the MY08, it will stay as the best impreza made.

Holyterror72 07 February 2007 06:40 PM

Not sure about calling it cat eye. I know, thats call it jap eye!

finalzero 07 February 2007 06:52 PM

Looks okay, but like other marks its obvious the company has moved away into a different market now, no doubt to increase the marketing value of their brand which has been a little specialised up till now.

But I think its down to taste, personally I don't like the 'hawk eye' model, I think it looks too much like a Saab from the front. But I see this as a bonus, will at least mean the collectable value of the 2005/2006-7 version will become better aka making them all the more desireable and making the classics even more of a classic.

Each to their own I guess, I will wait until its here in the flesh.

Smudga 07 February 2007 07:08 PM

oooo errr looks a bit max power stylee alright if yr into civics & saxos..personally think they should have called it something else .....apart from crap...... an impreza has always been a 4 door saloon with a boot which is the characteristic of the marque...IMO that is

Martin2005 07 February 2007 07:13 PM

whats all the moaning about, it looks fantastic

st3v3 07 February 2007 07:19 PM

And they say the Bug eye is ugly FFS Subaru SORT YA SELVES OUT

boxman2000 07 February 2007 07:37 PM

Looks like a cross between an Astra, Evo and Focus RS.

Scoobs have their popularity because they have set the standard - not in this incarnation!

Shame on them!

scuba_doo 07 February 2007 08:16 PM

Was planning on starting to save up for a new one in a few years time , but dont think i'll bother at the moment ! Rear end looks like any other focus with a big spoiler bolted on . :nono: Designers should have taken a leaf out of mitsi's book and stuck to a mean looking saloon !
I bet the s/h value's of RB 320's will end up being the same as new or more now !

SirFozzalot 07 February 2007 09:49 PM

PMSL....The same comments appear every time Subaru release a new shape/facelift.

I think I will reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh. :D

DCR59 07 February 2007 10:10 PM

That is bloody terrible, so it's time to buy a 2007 STi, that will do me for the next few years.
Or until someone at Subaru realises sales are poor and the car is restyled.

Sounds familar?
You'd have thought they learned their lesson with the bug-eye.

That front bumper won't work with a Front Mount.

And it's a 5 door, there will NOT be a 3 door model.
The WRC Car is also a 5 door.

itll grow on you:thumb: as for four door saloon, whats been winning the wrc in recent years .hatchbacks!might be something to do with the centre of gravity or balance of the car with a couple of foot of boot overhanging:wonder:

finchyboy 07 February 2007 10:30 PM

Thats a relief for all us Petrol Heads !!!!

<sniff> I'd consider a Diesel variant with an LPG PPP option :) </sniff>

Consider 40mpg and instant throttle response and 200+bhp...

Looks like they've put frames on the windows, or is this just the Mazda 3 photoshop hangover. I do like the way the scoop is integrated in the bonnet but not much else.

I like it actually.

Mac

Looking at the vertical bar down the lower grille, I'd say the car ought to be known as the "Jap's eye" :D

Alcazar

alcazar 08 February 2007 08:08 AM

The rear view is laughable: look at the reflection lines on the door/back wing. They don't match up. Nor do the rear lights.

The Auto Express article makes a big play on the "fact" that the car will "only be available as a 5-door hatchback in the UK".

Does that mean others, (JDM), are getting a choice we're not, AGAIN?

Alcazar

johnnyroper 08 February 2007 08:18 AM

the rear view reminds me of a proton or some other cheap mark with a big spoiler and twin pipes stuck on
front end nice
keep impreza as 4 door saloon and a wagon as it's always been

calling it jap's eye gets my vote

Abdabz 08 February 2007 08:36 AM

Err it's not a salloon? Err, are they doing a salloon aswell? If they are not, I will never own another... I shall go elsewhere. If I was a shopping trolley hot hatch puff lord, I would already own such a chutney ferret type machine:cry:. I want it to be a salloon
Seriously, it looks ok, but if it becomes a hatchback, I aint buying another, it's like ferrari making an estate, or Lamborghini making farming vehicles or Porsche making a 4x4....Hang on a min

Dracoro 08 February 2007 08:39 AM

Jebus christ. How can ANY of you still think this is anything other than a photoshop? Each month they have a go at making a civic/fabia/mazda/honad/etc hatch into an impreza with a different front end and a silly rear spoiler. It's SOOOO obvious.

Wait until subaru release some OFFICIAL pics (which I bet won't be anything like photoshop weeklys/AE efforts).

Are you sure? For the JDM maybe, as is the case now, but for Europe?

Yeah, well said.

For what its worth, I think it's OK.

And for all the 3/5 door comments, seriously who actually wants the hassle and inconvenience of a 3 door car.

Feck me, if it bothers you that much, remove the handles and weld the other 2 up.

Shaun

PeteBrant 08 February 2007 09:12 AM

I absolutely hate the direction they have taken. If there is one market that is fit to burting its the performance hatchback. You got alfa, fiesta, focus, astra, cupra, clio, cooper etc etc etc.

If I wanted a bloody hatchback I am not exactly struggling for choice. The (good) performance saloon alternatives are far less in number.

But hey, obviously thats where the money is because everyone is making hot hatches. And thats what this is - a money decision.

To be fair this is not a facelift - Its a complete redesign. The car has fundamentally changed.

bluenosewrx 08 February 2007 10:03 AM

Maybe Mike Wood would give us a liitle news on this, come on Mike pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Mac

urban 08 February 2007 10:24 AM

I'd bet that both Subaru UK & Prodrive staff are reading this.
Probably the thoughts of "hear we go again" running though some heads, together with "And they haven't even seen it yet".

I presume that some of the posters here are car designers and have done extensive market research on the new shape Impreza?
