I think you could try S.G. Petch's in Richmond still I think, my old "Catalunya" went up there for a day out, and I also used Chapmans in Pickering till they ceased contacting me for work, their loss, not mine....

Mondeoman01 pm'd me last night to offer his assistance. He's managed to track down the original supplying dealer - Chapman's, as it happens. I rang them this morning and they will issue me with the new service book with all the nine services they carried out stamped up, within a week or so. How good's that? :thumb:

I'd still persue and bitch at the insurance company for their ineptness... but thats because I'm bitter and twisted like that! ;)

Background:

I bought a 1999 V reg Impreza turbo wagon with full Subaru Service History last November. It had every garage receipt throughout its history with it. It was subsequently stolen, and was declared a "total loss" within a week. The Ins. Co. asked for the documentation to make a proper valuation on the vehicle, which I duly sent to them. After a few weeks they made a derisory offer, which I contested. At this point the vehicle was still mine as I hadn't accepted their offer. The car then turned up , with damage only to the front wheel and tyre, and I decided I wanted it back. So I sent back the initial cheque they had sent, plus a top-up one they had sent with an increase of the offer (after I had advised them by telephone that I would be keeping the car) and asked them to return my documentation.

Yes, that's right, the fecking incompetent insurance company has lost my service and warranties booklet, and about twenty pages of garage/service receipts pertaining to my car*.

So now I'm after compensation. If a seven-year-old Scoob is worth 6.0-6.5 grand with a perfect set of history and documentation, what is it worth without?

Your comments please.

*Actually, they've confessed to destroying the receipts because they take up too much room in the filing cabinet, even though the claim wasn't settled at the time.

All this stuff happening to you, I'm sorry to hear it.
I'm wondering just what you've done to upset the residents of Mount Olympus? :)

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly Bubba mate.

How much value does a car loose with no service history or service book? I'm looking at a car for the misses we both like has this?

Sorry BTT.

Steve

I still don't know the answer to the question of value loss. For myself, I wouldn't go within a hundred miles of a scoob without a fully-documented history, whatever the price. Other buyers might not be so fussy. If it's a UK car, contact International Motors, or perhaps PM mondeoman01 off this thread by PM. With the reg. no. they will be able to recover service history if you're prepared to put in the leg-w*rk.

I got my replacement service book in the post from Chapman's this morning, stamped up with the first eight services, plus printouts of the invoices. :thumb:

Now to send it off to Jennings for the next two. :)

Woah! Blast from the past! :D I've got all the services stamped up, now, all the garage printouts, and I got fifty quid out of the insurance company for my trouble. Could have been worse. :)
