If your car is decatted it makes your mot invalid ,as a caterlyst is a requirement for the test.Your cat or any other "mot requirement part" may become worn or deffective whilst within the mot is still valid ,may be ok (but you can get done for bald tyres/lights out etc)

So this in turn can make your insurance invalid

most people have a friendly mot station ;) who will pass a decattered car by various means(or put original cat on for mot time)
But if you have a smash and your car is a right off and the insurance comany check it out and find no cat they will invalidate your policy.
is it worth the risk if your've got 20k or so in your car ?
Thats why i've got a sports cat which is mot friendly.

cant see how they would have got away with this TBH, sounds to me like they tried it on and won

you didnt use it on the pulic road. very worst you could have been done for is no tax if it had none

Apart from that I have never and never would drive with no insurance.

The new computerized system of checking number plates instantly against insurance/tax/mot is brilliant. I just wish they would take it one step further and crush any car driving illegally - no excuses and no chance to get out of it.

Bit stupid of you wish others who had no insurance to get the car crushed, what if that was law, then someone else was caught in the same way as you, and the car they had just bought and had never driven was crushed.

Never done it and never would, too much of a chance of getting caught and it is not worth it

Mrfastbaz 23 December 2006 09:25 PM

Never done it and never would, it is not worth it ,its people like that who cause us people who do have insurance to pay extortionate prices......... in our policies.... really p>>>es me off... but i still wouldnt do it
