Not wasting 30 seconds of my life on that deluded cow.

On doing a Google on this thing called Shirley Phelps-Roper:cuckoo: I came across references to the fact that her oldest son is illegitimate.:nono:
So that makes her an adulterous whore according to her own beliefs and is doomed to spend eternity in the fire of hell. :luxhello: Purpose of godhatesfags.com last paragraph.
There is a God.:notworthy
What I do find sickening is this http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/index.html
Shame they cannot close their site down for stirring up racial hatred.
So how can a sinner cast the first stone at others, to paraphrase Jesus.

I'd like to point out that those of us who are Christians have a perfect right to practise that religion without specious insults like that. I respect your right to believe what you wish without feeling I have to denigrate you for it.

And yet, there are plenty in this thread who ARE denigrating this woman for her beliefs. I was pointing out the irony.

I don't think that any beliefs have the right of freedom from challenge, particularly religious ones which are usually held in the absence of supporting evidence and often in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

No, its the way she forces her beliefs onto other by means of protest and public speaking. She is causing a lot of hurt.

The petition has the sole intention of bring this to peoples attention!

as richie said, this was the topic of a Louis theroux episode. People like this are beyond reproach and are they mad or fanatics or are we all mad? what worried me more is that she has kids who are just like her!

sick, very sick!

This woman and others promote harm to others....

Most of us want peace :)

Sorry, Leslie, but I have to disagree with you, sort of.

I agree with what your view is, but have to actually seen what this Grade A pscho lunatic was saying? That to me isn't Christianity.

I'd like to say I don't have religion, but the definition of religion IIRC is how you live your life, so I have the religion of Micky.

I'm answerable to myself, my mistakes I'm to blame, not some made up presumably uber being.

I get struck by lightning, unlucky - not an act of 'GOD'

My house gets flooded - it's because the drains and water board are poor in their respective jobs.

Some people have faith, like your good self. I fortunately/unfortunately don't.

Hope you are well, I saw some of your posts in SS's Big C specialist thread.

That woman, not Squaresy, was certifieable though ;)

My religion is Jedi, at least thats what I filled in on the last concensus :)

I was at a disadvantage in that I could not comment on what she said not having been able to make the video work. It said that the video had been cancelled. Maybe it will work now,I will check.

I can see what Not Rev meant in his reply about the criticism she was getting and I accept absolutely of course that no belief has a right not to be challenged.

I do however object to being labelled as deranged because of my personal beliefs.

A challenge is one thing and is fair enough, an unpleasant and uncalled for insult is another matter though!

The original video is no longer available as it stated yesterday. The only one that will work is the BBC Theroux one which probably does not give the full story.

As far as I can tell, they have taken the teachings they quote or have made up in a completely "nil tolerance" manner. Christianity was never meant to be treated in this way. True Christianity is a guide to a good life, but also accepts that we are all vulnerable to temptation and are going to stray off the centre path during our lives. That is why forgiveness is always there for true contrition for doing wrong.

This strange woman has gone right over the top and has no tolerance whatsoever. This has led to her unpleasant manner and her sayings which can only be said to be forthright with no thought for the feelings of others.

It is possible for a priest to sometimes become over scrupulous in his attitude to following Christian teachings. His feelings change so that he can not imagine anyone going through life in what we would see as a normal manner and that we would have to be bound so tightly by the teachings that we could do little else in life. This is known as being affected by "scruples" and the priest has to be taken on one side and be gently sorted out.

This woman Phelps is an extreme exanple of this. Nothing else matters except absolutely strict adherence to her interpretation of those teachings which is patently ridiculous. She also appears to be two faced about it all anyway. Her actions are shameful and she should be prevented from inflicting herself on others in such a way.
