V5-APS 02 October 2006 11:29 AM

I'm up for a six speed STi clutch kit, depending on timeframes, i.e. if we can get the req. number of people :)

tyron.c 02 October 2006 07:19 PM

David quoted me 320 for the clutch (gp buy 250) and 150 for the flywheel (120). Taking vat and carriage into account there is a total saving of £121 if you go for the lot :) There's also a £50 refundable deposit on the old flywheel.

drewruberry 03 October 2006 06:11 PM

Do we have two more takers on the 5 speed yet???

T97@Fratton 03 October 2006 09:27 PM

Yes, could you add me to the list please. Lightly modded MY99 Classic Wagon; require performance organic clutch/release bearing, lightened flywheel and fitting. Understand this works out at £669.75, including VAT.

Cheers,

KH

We're off, well done all, Those that haven't done so Pm me with phone numbers to contact you and we'll get moving.

I am holding the fort alone this week, so unless anyone is in a desperate rush, l'll get them out on Monday.

Bito, l'll include you in with the 5 speeders even though yours is a 6 speed just to make it neat and tidy for all.

Any other stragglers out there??. Not closing, but will do so end of October.

Whats the differance between this clutch and the AP organic clutch which has been recommended for my 330 bhp and 350 1bs of torque P1?

About a 200 quid saving ...........................:norty:

The Exedy is the made by Daikin Corpration in Japan which is their version of AP Borg & Beck. AP Racing start off with an Exedy [ you can still see the logo ] and fiddle about with the material. The cover clamping pressure is not an issue, so I cannot voice an opinion on what they do there, except that the Exedy has more than enough clamp.

They fit 6 small springs in the centre disc, Exedy has 4 large ones.

Up to 400 / 400 we have not had any experience of a problem with any of our Exedy's. Above that I think the AP performs better [ you don't know how long it took me to write that sentence ] We are working with another company to improve the material on the friction disc. Once we have a stronger friction disc, then l think we will be able to compete at all power ranges with the AP.

Certainly for single plate organic clutches, anyway.

Ours on the GB is £250.00 including a release bearing. Our retail is only £320.00. The AP is about £445.00 without the bearing which is about a further £62.00 from Subaru. Even the Helix does not compare in value terms.

Go-on order one!!, you know it makes sense.

What power can the AP kit handle?

Is there an option just to buy the lightened flywheel?

l1verp00l 19 October 2006 02:25 PM

me clutch is started to slip. my mate has one of these clutchs on his 300bhp scoob and he rates it. says the flywheel is a waste of money though. just a standard 1 which has been machineed. is it just machineed or is it a uprated 1?

APIDavid 19 October 2006 03:09 PM

There's probably 27,000 people on here who have bought our light flywheels that disagree with your mate, but anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The flywheel from us at that price is a standard one machined down from 12.2 K'g's to about 7 Kg's. They all come up slightly different for weight, due to the differing mass of the cast iron in any casting. Steel billet ones which are a must with a ceramic clutch start at £300.00 from us.

Good Luck David APi
