Are you regularly on one vessel Wes? I got a shot at some surface supply in Ft William a few months ago. Not really too keen on the thought of sat though! Congrats on you guys getting your pay rise.

weslad 30 January 2007 07:56 PM

yea i am mate , spend most of my time on the polaris but ive been on a few more , semi 1 / 2 , rocky , regailia (when they had it) , theres a new vessel this year 2 and a brand new one ready in a few years so there is plenty of work , i also did a few months on the mermaid commander (ex cso marianos) on a sat support job last year that was good fun lol , sats ok especially if you are in with a good set of lads .........we,ve still got sky tv in there lol , yea the rise was good tnx , helps take the sting out of the mega tax bill we get hit with lol...............

steve_nairn_sti 30 January 2007 08:12 PM

I know a few of the inspection bods on the polaris and am good mates with one of the project engineers out with you. He was last onboard when the polaris came in to port for the impending strike.

The regalia did a lot of work out WoS here but that was quite a bit before I joined the company.

There's no denying it..... tax sucks!

weslad 30 January 2007 09:37 PM

yea there all a good bunch of lads on there.........i may be back out there late next week , the vessel sails tonight actually i think its in peterhead , its just had a small amount of refit work done , i went back after the strike , had 13 days off went back just before new year (we drank our alcohol free wine in sat on new years eve lol) , got home on the 13th jan ......................

Hello Steve. I just came home on Wednesday night. I was talking to a couple of the Swaco lads and they reckon Turkmenistan is really bad. Best avoided in the future I think!

Us production lads don't have any time for going in the rec room :D . Aye Right!

I don't go offshore very often (onshore based IT stuff), but even I've been on the Chirag for two nights!

I'm thinking about going offshore myself but have no idea what job would suit me best. I'm a machinist for vetco at the moment so only have experience pushing buttons at the moment.

As long as you can smoke 40+ tabs and consume about 100 (150 if you dont smoke) cups of coffe a day you should be a fine candidate for a job offshore.
