That's the plan with the rest of the money ;)

Think a few of you are getting a bit carried away. It won't be used for the track, out and out power is not a concern, more after something a bit special...

cat7 11 July 2006 06:17 PM

in 2 years time...

i'd be looking at porker c2 997 territory

mg driver 11 July 2006 06:19 PM

I didn't see you said next year or 2. Come back when you have the money and are ready to spend it on a car.

I once came in to a bit of money and thought about what I could spend it on. Unfortunately time moves on and what is important changes. You could have kids, have changed job, need to move, need a bigger house etc.

I do agree with what you are saying - but every base is pretty well covered. First child is on the way, house is feckin huge, life is very good.

There's nothing to stop me window shopping early :D

At least I can do some proper homework...

white 11 July 2006 08:13 PM

For a weekend toy only then I would definately buy an SC'd Ariel Atom. I will stop, go and handle like nothing else.

GT3 will whip 99% of the cars on the road, and skylines all day.

marcus.s 11 July 2006 10:17 PM

Z4M coupe for me

jbryant 12 July 2006 10:38 AM

How about a Noble? Nice and shiny, rarity value, feelgo(o)d car... and stupidly fast?
Joolz :D

Longjing 12 July 2006 11:07 AM

Special, feel-good weekend car?

E-type with uprated bits from JD Classics or someone like that. Still one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

alcazar 12 July 2006 11:23 AM

Me, I'd buy an RS200 kitcar, and maybe an Elise for messing about in.

Or a nearly new Evo340, and an older Elise.

Or save up another £20,000, and have a REAL RS200:)

(A tad more than £40k though :freak3: )

24hr is a long time and life can change in a second. So although all bases are covered, you never know what tomorrow will bring you. Could be twins ! lol

£40K ? I would buy a £5K Lancer evo 3, invest the rest as a huge down payment into a flat. Smash the ****e out of the lancer for a year, sell the flat, and laugh as your £35K will now be worth £55/60K. I would then buy a 2 year old 55SL AMG ! :-)

Doesnt have to be a Lancer, could always be a internet ordered Thai bride ! Could thrash that around for a year aswell ! ;-)

Nice position to be in matey, I tip my cap of respect to you ! Well done.

I don't think he wants to feel "that" special ;)

Nice 996 C2 for me, you could even get the kid in the back (for a while)

Wind noise would keep it awake in/on the Atom

RobEvo5 12 July 2006 04:03 PM

With that kind of money, and what would appear a comfortable lifestyle even after purchase. It has got to be a Ferrari.

As much as I like jap, you only buy jap IMHO because they are cheap smiles for your pounds. But with a decent budget, and enough money to run a top end spec car, its got to be a prancing horse, porker, merc AMG, top end BMW, top end Audi.

But my choice and as stated above, for an everyday car that will make you feel special, be within budget, not cost the earth to run or keep on the road (comparitively), and not let you down I would say go with a porsche.

StudentScooby 12 July 2006 04:17 PM

Noble all the way

Yeah would love a 360, but how much is servicing...

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble thinking I'm some hard working internet entrepenaur, cos I'm not. Potentially got the chance of some early inheritance, thats all. Plan is to bank half, spend half on a car.

I think I've decided on a 911...wonder which one :D

How about this one?

NICE!!

billythekid 12 July 2006 08:27 PM

If its a weekend car and you want something special, that will turn heads, thats quick, thats different and something that will hold its value I would seriously consider a Caterham 7.

I am on my 4th one, hypercar performance (on the top models) for 1/10th the price. Everyone will point and look at it and it really will hold its value. I have never lost more than 1500 a year in depreciation on a Caterham.

40k will get you the top spec CSR260. But TBH the CSR 260 has too much power for the road, so save 10k and get the CSR200, its just as fast on the road and you will be able to use all the power.

Get yourself along to a local Caterham meeting - PM me if you want info on your local meet. You will get to meet some mad and very friendly people and I guarantee it will be a life changing experience and you will wonder how you lived without a) the car and b) the friends you will make through the local club.

On a final note Caterham are doing 0% finance right now so you could put your money in ING for a couple of years and the interest will pay for your depreciation.

If you want more info PM me.

dpb 12 July 2006 08:36 PM

TE 230 - hundred of um..:)
