Talking it easy for 5 mins before you stop is good enough, absolute waste of money I think. If your bursting for a wazz on the m/way then pull into the truck parking section and pee behind a truck like they do!!!!

have one on mine but it was on there when i bought the car. to be honest most of the time i take the last couple of miles easy so that i don't have to sit there. Even if i lock the doors my TT unlocks them when it switches off. It's because of the alarm. just after you get in the car it locks the doors for you, anti jacking measure, then as soon as power is cut they unlock.

one thing i do like about it is if you're running the engine on the TT, as soon as you take the handbrake off the engine cuts out so that you can't drive off in it. the tea leaves can still nick what ever you've got in it though.

Unless you garage or living room is in the Pit Lane is there any point??:confused:

I had one on my MY00 - good fun really and all linked to the alarm. Was it necessary - no, not really, as if you ever had a spirited drive, you knew it and thus waited in the car while it did cool down.

However, for those who talk about your car getting nicked. Mine was set for 1 minute 30 secs as a standard. So, I pull up and turn off the key, I get out, and I then lock the car (thus preparing the alarm to arm but the internal sensors etc all arm fine) with the remote and walk away. That's between 15-20 secs to do that. How many people do you know would walk up to the car (while you are within visual or sensory range) and break a window, thus potentially activating the alarm anyway if it has had a chance to arm, then get in the seat, select first and drive away. How many???

And if they did - what would happen. One, in less than 45 secs or so the car would stop and they'd not get far. Plus, there is no key in the ignition, so the steering lock comes on very quickly. So we have a distance (if there is no-one in front of them) of up to 45 secs acceleration, plus they have to go in a straight line.

Best make sure no one with a TT parks at one end of Heathrow runway then. Car will be gone!!!!

Surley you are accelerating all the time in that case? I'm not sure of the ins and outs of two turbos but surely you can accelerate without using boost?
With my TD04 i could hit 1 bar of boost way before 3k and i had no problem staying off boost from zero to 100mph plus :)

You dont need a turbo timer if you have the intelli start because you can remotely stop it and lock it after a few mins. It carnt get nicked if you have the keys on you because if either of the brakes are touched it auto arms. Had a concept 600 with all extras on my MR2 and loved it.

Big waste of money..

Just taking it easy on the way home for 5 mins off boost will be fine..Theres no need to be sat waiting 5mins to cool a turbo down..

I have one fitted that was on the car when i bought it. Its just a timer nothing else. Has 3 settings 0ff/1min/3min. Its tied to the alarm but also the handbrake. If the timer is enabled and the engine running if someone gets into the car and takes of the handbrake the engine cuts and the alarm arms straight away. My car is 11 years old with the original turbo. Ive had the car 6 years of this and the timer has always been set to 1 minute unless ive given some hammer and then stop straight away. In this case ill flick it to 3 miutes!
The fact that Subaru stick warnings on new cars means they gotta be worth it unless you wanna sit in your car like a Tard every time you blast it down to the local shops for some beer?

Thats probably because, if like Admiral, their customer services are overseas and they don't have a clue what your talking about. All will become apparent in the event of a claim when its handed over to their uk branch.

Quite right. It is not revs that determine boost but how judicious you are with your left foot. For example you could be sat at four thousand revs yet not be booosting, conversely you could put your foot to the floor in fourth gear at about two and a half thousand revs and instantly hit one bar asBrun says.

I don't have a boost gauge (yet. I'm working on some software for my Car PC which will do the same job), so can't really answer this question, but I was under the impression that if you were above the RPM where boost can be acheived then you'll be spinning the turbo anyway and thus will need to cool it down.

I'm not an expert in these things, just stuff I've picked up from this forum so may well be complete and utter crap.

Of course, if you've just accelerated to get in front of the truck you're alongside, then cut in front and pulled into the services like a BMW driver then you'll have definately been on boost and need to cool the turbo down.
