Dont forget those "16V" badges you get in the car accesories shop that you stick on the boot although another alarming trend I have noticed is people usually in Astras or Saxos have boot badges that say "ABS".How sad.
Seriously though, please take torching it into consideration.

you won't need Sat nav to find the other Scoob drivers are - just find the nearest petrol station, where they'll be fighting over who gets the single SUL pump http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Wow, Mossman's new company car is actually quite nice. The HKS and SIDC stickers compliment it marvelously. The demo of the sat nav was.. well, erm!?! Why did you say it kept spitting the disc out Jon? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

WAHAY!!!!!

I don't care what people say, but I am VERY pleased with the new Astra! It really is superb - obviously not as quick as our beloved chariots BUT reasonably so!

Great handling and amazingly good brakes. Even the interior is sorted! Loads of good options too - sat nav (now up and running I hope!), CD, aircon, traction control, cruise control etc etc.

Overall, much better than the Vectra!

Cheers,

Jon.

Hi Jon,
sounds like your astra was a little bit better than the one the vauxhall dealer gave me for a courtesy car, i think i could have done with the better brakes as mine didnt work that well, shame the car was 6 inches shorter when it went back into the garage than when i picked it up!!

longun 13 October 2000 09:18 AM

Yea I found the brakes absolutley amazing as well. I think the ones on the 2.0L are bigger and they stopped the car so quickly..

Turn that stupid traction control thing off it don't do much except split cv joints as I found out(testing it by trying to wheel spin in the dry!!!! wheels bounced off the ground a bit and BANG ars£ greece everwhere in the wheel arch..)

Let me know about the filter. There is no rush it ain't going anywhere...

Edited because I can't spelle?????

Right I've heard enough. There is loads u can do to an astra, Just because it aint a supercar don't mean it can't fly. When I first 1/4 miled my mk2 GTE 8 valve, it did a 17.1. Now it does a 15.5. it will do a 15.2 with a good start. This is mainly due to a nitrous oxide kit which has turned it into a torque steering animal with jet like acceleration and a handy ability to spin the wheels in all 5 gears in the wet. With all the other bits ( suspension, brakes, tyres, ) she handles like a dream and stops like a *******. Even though I've got a cossie I am still keeping her, cos she is fun to drive rather than the Sierra which is downright dangerous if you get it wrong. trust me, there is loads you can do.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE ASTRA
