Some people hardly know us and you're talking about getting a room???!!!!

Maybe we should have a few hardcore members round to mine for a discussion on the years events. Let me know what you think by email.

Friday or a weekend would be best. How about a Sat or Sun afternoon?

Beefy 04 February 2006 05:59 PM

Count me in provided it isnt a saturday afternoon.

cw42 04 February 2006 06:59 PM

sat/sun afternoon is ok for me, have to make sure its after 2pm on a saturday, and the wife isn't working sat or sun :)

chris.

Andy S. 04 February 2006 08:00 PM

Beefy have you got the new car yet?

Beefy 05 February 2006 10:57 AM

Yes I got it yesterday lunchtime Andy. :)

Unfortunately Ive not had alot of time to drive it yet (only covered about 100 miles so no danger of beating steelx's driving in record!).

It feels great being back in a scoob again, to say Im pleased is an understatement. People must think theres something wrong with me 'cos I keep grinning randomly while Im driving around. :)

If I can get 1000 miles done and get it serviced before Wales then I should be able to make that run, otherwise it will have to be something later (Im strictly obeying a 4000 rpm limit at the moment which is just enough to have a little fun but not enough to keep up with you lot!!!!).

Mad Scientist 05 February 2006 05:47 PM

Have you got PPP Beefy?

Beefy 05 February 2006 06:43 PM

No pete its completely standard. As I did with my first one, I want to drive it for a good few thousand miles before I get it PPP'd (while I save up!!). ;)

MY93WRX 05 February 2006 07:21 PM

Running in.

If you have chat to proper engineers sticking to 4000 rpm is not the best way to run a car in. An old friend of mine works for a Technology company who help develop engines and oils. Aparantley the best way to run a car in is when it is thoroughly warm is to slowley teas it over over the 4000 rpm and over those 1000 miles or so "excercise" it in this way. the safest option for the manufacuerers is to say what they say as many people are not Mechanically minded. Incidentley the way this company run engines in (Citroen VTR Engines last ime i chatted with him) iwhen testing oils is x Minutes on idle followed by x minute on full bang . This method is not recomened for your road car though.

Mad Scientist 05 February 2006 07:44 PM

Running engines in is such an ambiguous subject that, IMHO, the only sensible thing to do is what the dealer tells you!

Beefy 05 February 2006 08:04 PM

I agree pete, and because of this I specifically asked the dealer what to do whilst running in and he actually surprised me a little. The advice was not to redline it until after 1000 miles but that it was ok to drive "normally" before then. I think a period of driving without booting it too hard is basically the recommendation, although Ive always driven cars in gradually so wont be going over 4000 rpm until ive got a few hundred miles on the clock.

Hope you have done a few miles in it today then Beefy:)

Hopefully see you on Sunday then!

100miles, I've only done 150miles since I got my baby!

Need to get out and play!!

Mad Scientist 06 February 2006 09:35 AM

Sunday will be soooooo good. Its like a high school reunion at the moment!!! Get some miles done Beefy!

Alternatively, lend me you're car, and i'll get 1000 in this week just at work, including a day working at home today!

:)

Beefy 06 February 2006 09:49 AM

Thanks for the offer pete, very kind! :)

Unfortunately I will have to turn you down. The running in bit is great!!
