cw42 27 January 2006 05:18 PM

spotted that darren, nice 1, see you there ;)

manx minx 27 January 2006 08:58 PM

:) looks like we are getting quite a bit of interest from our side of the water too guys.should be a lot of laughs.

cw42 27 January 2006 10:07 PM

minx, can you get a list of names together from your side so we've got an idea of who we're going to meet on the saturday night?
I think we need to organise something a bit more concrete for the weekend as well, like a time and place we can all meet up on the saturday daytime?
Can you give us any ideas of whats the best way to fit in enough tourist bits to appease the wife & kids, but also get some of the best roads covered as well :)
chris.

mrtheedge2u2 28 January 2006 12:57 AM

Minx, I am not sure what your opinion is but I was thinking we could take 'em on the usual TT circuit as most people want to do that and also take them down to kirk Michael from snaefell yadda yadda yadda and also down the south west side...... what you reckon?

jtb106 28 January 2006 08:55 AM

IoM

has anyone got any good mapping websites that cover IoM? Any sites that suggest routes for keen drivers?

Microsoft Mappoint claims there are no roads there whatsoever....which ain't much use!

No problem so far there is myself my husband and Daughter, richard and Margy,Dave K,Andi,Graham and Helen, possibly Mickey and his partner that I know are interested but need to double check the sidc web. Also my mate John is looking at a scoob tomorrow so he and his other half may also join us.
Leave the daytime stuff with me and I will contact the others for a general idea.

Sounds good to me but also include the switchback road, took the scooby fest guys down it last year thats was a real laugh.
Possibly the Ballamohda straight if the speed limit isn't in by then.
What car do you drive so I can keep an eye out for you, not sure if we have met!

I did have a green Alfa Romeo GTV V6 untill just recently, but as the engine packed in and the misses was P*ssed at £5K of work on the engine in just 8 months (i reckon it was down to Pete "Madscientist" Piglet" bouncing it on the rev limiter all the time!!!!) she made us by a silver ford pum (queue laughter)...... I think I am the only guy who wears red framed glasses on the island too, so that may help u recognise me! lol

as imprezza's are like mondeo's over here...ie common, which one do u drive????

So I take it you no longer have the Alfa now. Quite a few puma's here too, however I will know you if I saw you now I am sure.

I have a blue classic with a blue subaru wind visor on it. As there is so many blue ones you could possibly miss mine, so here's my partial reg 44y, give us a wave if you spot me.

mrtheedge2u2 28 January 2006 07:41 PM

Regarding events over the easter weekend I have e-mailed Richard to see if he has any ideas.

HEAZILLE 31 January 2006 11:09 AM

is it wise to be going over Easter weekend? Won't the mountain road be chock full of caravans and camper vans??????

NO, Caravans not allowed over here unless have a permenant site for them, i have only seen a couple on the roads in the last 10 years.

The mountain however may be closed between the Creg-Ne-Bar And Brandywell Cottage Junction. DONT WORRY though, i have a plan and think it will actually benefit you guys. Details however via 'e' mail to me on prouse@manx.net rather than general forum.

I (and my band of helpers) have been organising or involved in the Manx Scoobyfest for 5 years now, so i am sure we can find something for you guys to do.

I have already booked a nice restuarant for 8pm saturday night, i have a couple of ready made Treasure hunts 2/3 hours driving which i can sort for you, also Laser blasting is jolly good fun BUT VERY POPULAR, it cost's about £10 for 2 games (best format we have found) and i could book that up if i had confirmed numbers. NEC has a nice swimming pool set up (Hilton one is small and nothing for the kids) also ten pin bowling etc etc.

There really is a good bit to do over here.

ALSO, for those that can not get over in easter, why not join us in August for the rally, the full 6 day package will cost £840 per car with minimum 2 peeps. BUT, if shorter stays are the order of the day i can arrange that as well, just lop off £85 per night for the hotel (4 star Mount Murray) also includes Ferry travel from & back to liverpool, 6 Nights B&B, welcome meet,Gala Dinner,The Fearsome Manx challenge, (Bowling,Laser shooting,Treasure Hunt) Go Karting, Fish n Chip supper plus 3 days watching (and/or Marshalling) on the Total Manx International Rally.

Plus whatever else we can dream up!!!

There is plenty of room for this left as well, as i already have the hotel and ferry booked Aug 2nd>Aug 8th.

Whichever trip you fancy we will make sure you enjoy yourselves!!

We both fancy the idea of coming over. But I am booked to photograph a wedding on the Saturday, i'll check and see what time they want me till. We could then get the 21.30 from Liverpool. (just checked prices out)
A mate of mine regularly visits his family in the IOM he will be there as well.
He is the guy that bought my classic off me, he is also into his imprezas and he will show us some proper driving roads as well as the manx lads. His place is in Port Erin in the south of the island. Are you guys staying in Douglas?
Like I say just have to check this wedding out first.
Hope we can get over

cw42 08 February 2006 11:41 AM

Warren, that would be cool if you could come :) We're pretty much all staying in the Hilton in Douglas. Plans so far are:
11am ferry from liverpool on friday
eat with manx's on friday night
get shown around the island saturday, with lots of tourist stuff for the family thrown in too
eat with manx's sat night
more tourist/driving sunday
2pm ferry monday to liverpool

Hope you can make it mate, at least for the big nosh on sat and the sun/mon driving :) I'm sure the Hilton have still got rooms available, although there are about 30 of us staying there now :)

chris.
