me thinks i'll need to get me-self a nice Sat-Nav off Flea-bay

The Chief 22 January 2006 08:09 PM

Just to let folk know that i had a little blat out at weekend and i have competed a 3rd of the route, i ended up in Hebden bridge which was a bit of a disaster as they have it all dug up and it is currently gridlocked so i need to work out some ice roads from there!!!!

I've not forgot!!!!

some really good and fast roads up to there though:)

cw42 22 January 2006 10:26 PM

so i need to work out some ice roads from there!!!!
ice roads! yikes! really? :):)
Crickey chief, your putting far too much time into this route, it's going to be a monster by the sound of it, will we need to bring tents and sleeping bags? :)
Chris.

The Chief 22 January 2006 10:31 PM

No i dont want to make a f**k of it, gotta get it right.:)

a lot of these roads i have never ventured on, so i need to give them a personal roadstest before unleashing the Smacs onto then.

Unfortuately i was hoping to do more of route before the light faded and my buudy who came along in a Boxster decided a more sedate (i.e. like miss daisy) pace was the order of the day.

I am trying to keep away from villages and built up area's as much as possible.

I'll keep you all posted.:)

Andy S. 22 January 2006 10:48 PM

May be we have to book a hotel half way around!!!

LOL

The Chief 22 January 2006 10:56 PM

The run from Denshaw i am planning took me an hour at most, and that was to Hebden Bridge, it was just a bit of a disaster from there on (not what i expected TBH)

i'll definitely get it sorted.

just dont hold you breath:)

Beefy 23 January 2006 05:59 PM

Sounds like this could be one to mark in the diary! :)

wah 24 January 2006 06:22 PM

I will try and make it but if I do it will only be to say hello to everyone, won;t be able to make the run out due to my brake fluid looking somewhat like dirty dish water at the moment, thanks to Chris at Prosport for pointing it out !!!!

Well after looking at the state of the Smacs diary it looks like this run could be around March time - so plenty of time to sort those brakes:)

having my new discs + pads fitted tommorrow so i need to take it easy for a bit.

The Chief 14 February 2006 10:42 AM

Well i'm gonna give my route a test run this weekend - then hopefully we can discuss when an ideal time will be to do it.
March or April would be ideal:)

cw42 14 February 2006 11:32 AM

Excellent news chief, but march and april are deffo out, we've far too much on those months.
Just put my name on the thread for the peak tour 2006, which is on the 30th april.
Check the diary page of our site, see when we're quiet on there, and make the proposal then. :)
You'll have email later this afternoon regarding a meeting next week as well.
see you saturday.
chris.

cw42 14 February 2006 11:36 AM

july, august, september, october and november are looking contenders at the moment.
I kid you not, and thats not including the next run to wales, the proper one this time with karting and staying over in a hotel :)
I feel it's important to spread what we're doing around, too much too early, and we'll have nothing to look forward to later in the year.
I presume you'll be stopping at the pub on your route to sample the food :D

Chris i didn't aquire my ample proportions through not knowing a good pub dinner. trust me it will be a good 'un:)

cw42 14 February 2006 12:52 PM

LOL :D

supertouring 14 February 2006 12:58 PM

Next year maybe too soon based on how much I have already spent on Optimax this year!

Feb has so far been Stock-Derby run, Brands TD, Wales Run and I still have Bedford to look forward to. Ouch!

The Chief 14 February 2006 01:27 PM

Do you drive your car on a daily basis Dai???

supertouring 14 February 2006 04:40 PM

I do not use it to commute, if that is what you are asking, as I work from home.

But we only have one car as a family so shopping trips, kids taxi service and general travelling duties is all done in the scoob.

The Chief 20 February 2006 04:54 PM

Put together another part of the route on Sunday, myself and Paul (Gillp95) went for a run and hit the road between Hebden Bridge and Keighly - which is absolutely superb i have to say - its almost done.

Just need to find a damn pub in Saddleworth or Yorkshire that does good pub grub and has a large car park

cw42 20 February 2006 05:46 PM

Must be plenty of pubs in that area we can stop in, if your really stuck, we'll stop at the Ford Inn, near digley reservour, always good food there. :)

mykp 24 February 2006 09:34 PM

Chief,

if you need any help on the saddleworth moor/hebden bridge bit then let me know I have an encyclopedic (even if I cant spell it) knowledge of that area. I'm from round there and my parents still like in Denshaw and ive spent many hours tear arsing round the single track moor roads.

Mike

Beefy 24 February 2006 09:38 PM

Chief I know its going to be a while before there is space in the hectic SMACS calender to schedule this run-out, but it might be an idea to set a date so that other things dont keep getting organised in the calender in its place. The route sounds great and I for one dont want to miss out!! :)

mykp 24 February 2006 09:58 PM

Pity we couldnt have done it today, according to my mum there was about a foot of snow on the ground there this morning! Now that would have been fun.

Beefy 24 February 2006 10:13 PM

Certainly has been a bit on the chilly side today.

cw42 24 February 2006 11:40 PM

Does anyone remember the run we did after the Marple Hall School doughnut session over to Rowarth? :D
Sheet ice down to the Little Mill Inne, classic SMACS run out at an average speed of about 10mph :thumb:

I've still got the film somewhere of our doughnuts :)

Martin-STI 25 February 2006 09:06 AM

:D Did someone mention FOOD?:D

wah 25 February 2006 09:08 AM

Lol yup every american cops favorite !!! :D

Martin-STI 25 February 2006 09:11 AM

Have to be Dunkin Donuts then?????????

wah 25 February 2006 09:12 AM

Of course and a bin full of coffee !!

Martin-STI 25 February 2006 09:14 AM

 And attitude:nono:

wah 25 February 2006 09:23 AM

Well that goes without saying, as they don't want to have to get out of the car incase they loose the half eaten doughnut they were chomping through, plus some of them are that fat they just wedge themselves in behind the wheel for the shift !!!
