Its that key on the left hand side of your keyboard.

Just give it a little press, and the light will go off ;)

ALL THE LADS FROM SCOOBYNET SPEND ALOT OF MONEY IN PLACES LIKE POWERSTATION WHY SHOULD WE NOT ASK FOR A DISCOUNT ?
YOU MUST HAVE TO MUCH MONEY IF YOU DONT ASK FOR A DISCOUNT.

Do you shop at Tescos (or similar) where all the prices are laid out, and then get to the checkout and ask for a discount ?

Thats why you have the price before hand.

No point getting upset if no discount is available. :)

Being a member of a a public forum containing members that also use an establishment does not automatically entitle you to a discount on products and services unless the establishment explicitly says so in advance of your visit.

Powerstation -like other companies on here- may offer a group buy at their discretion, but this is usually organised in advance, subject to a number of people buying a specified product/s within a limited timeframe and it is at their discretion. Otherwise, it's not a market place, you don't haggle! :)

Also, in any negotiation, if you want a discount you haggle before a product or service is provided not after you've agreed to a price! :)

I hope this clears things up. Apart from that misunderstanding it sounds like your visit was a success.

You're getting on my nerves and it's not me you're having a pop at.
It's a measure of the professionalism of PS that they're not on here slinging the muck back.
If you didn't want to pay, you shouldn't have had the work done...simple as.

If you had been a regular customer at PS for the last few years and spent a few quid then yes, you would expect a slight discount, just as I give all my regular customers discount after a certain amount of time, but certainly not on your first visit. :freak3:

I may ask for a bit of discount from someone if i'm spending a bit of cash but if they say no thats fair enough, I wouldnt then come on a public forum and try to ruin their reputation.

And for gods sake turn your caps lock off ;) :D

alcazar 15 October 2005 10:58 AM

I just cannot believe Arfan STILL hasn't got it:confused:

I'd be VERY interested in how old he is...........another one of today' youth who want all the privileges, but don't want the responsibility, maybe?

Arfan: if you haven't got enough money NOT to ask a company for a discount, STOP MODDING YOUR CAR!:D

And just what DID the manager of Tesco say, when you asked HIM for a discount? You DID ask, didn't you? So where do you shop now:D:D

Powerstation: TOP BUNCH> RECOMMENDED!

It is a busy place, and prices are stated and to be paid, just like a shop; the product is on offer for X so you pay that or leave it and buy elsewhere.

you lot do make me laugh sometimes how many of you have gone into a dealership and asked for a discount on your new car? you all seem to think you deserve a discount for some reason why's that then? he has done exactly the same as most people on here don't have a go at him for that or are you all hypocrites. :)

Car dealerships are open to haggling. The point here is that the price was agreed before the work was completed, then the haggling began afterwards.
I wouldn't include myself in the sweeping generalisation that you've made above either.

You've missed the bit of my post that stated that:

1) A establishment like Powerstation is not a market, they provide a sevice at set rates; you don't really tend to haggle in these kind of circumstances, especially if you're not getting work done in bulk or have some kind of "loyality discount scheme" set up by the company.
2) In any case, prices are agreed before the work is carried out not after!

Furthermore, even if you were to ask for a discount in a car dealership -where there is the understanding that the price of the car is subject to negotiation- you would not claim a discount on the basis that other members of a public forum on the net have used the dealership. I'd suggest that this approach would be very unlikely to get you a discount!

Nick at PS has done the suspension work on the both of my cars.
I can't find fault in any work I've had done there.

Going to powerstation on the 9th November for a remap. I wont ask for a discount, as long as I get offered a cup of tea.

You have been warned. :)

i know i am- i always ask for discount sidc 10% is always fun at subaru garages and once i got scoobynet 10% and then sidc 10% as well saves me a chunk of money,i like a bit of friendly banter it is all part of deal either you get it or you dont .A lot of it depends on how you ask if you demand discount you are likely not to get it,if you have been polite and friendly i see no harm in asking-i have got discounts from tsl/powerstation/scott lowe/subaru/tyre fitters all sorts but i do not expect it

ford gt,m5's etc why would people who own these cars go there if there service and work wasn't good.

Carlos13 16 October 2005 09:31 AM

Asking for a discount is fine. Complaining about not getting one is not. This is the difference that seems difficult to grasp for the hard of thinking.

it sounds like you are happy with the product, just not happy with the fact that dirk didnt stand with you whilst having the car sorted is this correct?

if so, you may have to appreciate that whilst he would probably like to be standing there whilst you have your car done he has a large workshop with lots of other business needs, if he stood around chewing the fat with every customer, he wouldnt have the client base he has today, and indeed the reputation.

you need to realise that the customer service you recieved from the guy doing the work on your car is what you should have been watching, as he is a representative of powerstation, you cant expect the main man to be stood with you all the time thats just not realistic, maybe if you were prince charles with his RR being roling roaded :D he would have been with you all day, but whilst you are just you, I think from what I have read that you got what you asked for, and you agree its a good product, so you really should stop whining as its making you look silly now.

also I read on another thread where you were telling mike wood that he was wrong about suspension set ups? do you realise that he is in charge of prodrive (the guys that create the wrc cars and ppp to name just a few) do you realise how stupid that made you look on here? grab some of your self respect back, by shutting up and enjoying your car!

in my opinion of course ;)

Jamo :)

Maybe this has'nt occured to you.....HE WAS WORKING!!, just because he's sat in front of a PC does'nt suggest he's playing solitaire.

Been to Powerstation a few times and have had excellent customer service from them, a very friendly and relaxed atomosphere:thumb:

Exactly what "position" are you in to expect a discount ?

Do you expect to pay less than the advertised price in Tesco ? Ask them and see what reply you get.

If Curtis was working on your car (to your satisfaction) why the hell should Dirk stand around watching ?

The guys at PS have always been spot on when I have been there (except Rich, he's a cvnt ;):D )

The pirce was what they quoted, and the service was second to none...
Will be returning for sure next time I have cash for mods!!!!!!

Powerstation are a class act - no question. Because of that they are busy. So am I at APi. I will spend as much time as necessary , or can spare, with you when you visit APi. We have customers waiting whilst clutches are changed [ about 4-5 hours ], they are fed as much coffee / tea and magazines as we can provide.

BUT we have jobs to do and we cannot sit and talk to them all day.

Discount is a tricky question; prices generally are fixed and fair in most places and to ask can often offend. Especially if some of the work done is duplicated, I.E. changing a flywheel whilst doing a clutch. The clutch job is priced at say 5 hours labour, but the flywheel removal and fitting takes an extra 1/4 hour. In a Subaru dealer you WOULD get charged the extra labour. We don't and I am certain the likes of Powerstation wouldn't either. All of us will have a profit in the flywheel cost, but the independents have a more flexible approach to the work / time thing.

Powerstation are a great bunch of lads they have supplied Scooby Clinic with quite a lot of suspension components. A few weeks ago one of our customers had a problem with one suspension leg and as he was closer to PS than us a quick call was made, the guys jumped into action and sorted him out, otherwise he would have missed his track day that he had paid for. Big thanks to Dirk and Rich for that.

Like someone said on one of our threads:- the bigger the circus the more clowns you will see. Sounds like Dirk is just like me he gets slagged off if he cant give someone 120% undivided attention when you have also got a business to run. Every customer is of course important and should receive 100% attention, but in reality we should be able to leave this to the rest of the staff which obviously Dirk has done and achieved.

Big thumbs up to the lads at Powerstation.

Cheers Kev
