trouser?

RRH 10 June 2005 07:45 PM

whatever happened to trouser? I saw him at the autosport show earlier in the year, but he hasn't been on here for ages now.....

back to the topic- whilst she needs fresh water, don't give her a bowl big enough so that she can lie in it as that's a recipe for disaster

ajm 10 June 2005 08:35 PM

Actually they like to be able to soak in water...

From http://www.anapsid.org/burm.html

Water
Provide a bowl of fresh water at all times; your snake will both drink, soak and may defecate in it. Check it and replace with fresh water as necessary. Bowls should be big enough for the snake to get into and soak before its sheds. As the snake gets too big for suitably sized tubs in its enclosure, it will have to be taken out and bathed in a secured and safe bathroom.

Lovely looking snake ajm, my sister keeps one as well, I think its a coral snake of some sort?
Ive never thought about keeping one myself, having seen my sisters I dont think that they do much, as it tends to lie about for ages until it gets hungry then its slighty more active. Mind you I dont know if she handles the wee begger either!!

Oh, what about sandy for a name?

Coral snakes are venomous! Do you mean a corn snake? ;)

Yeah, snakes don't "do" much as such... they are eating/sleeping machines, although you should handle them as much as possible to keep them "tame" or as tame as it is possible to be for a reptile.

Apparently the only times you shouldn't handle is after eating as this can cause them to barf, or if they are still in hunting/eating mode they can take a snap at you, or whilst they are shedding when they tend to be grumpy but I guess I've got all this to come! :D

It was in some sand dunes in france, I was trying to catch a "grassnake" ( READ European Adder) to impress a floosie. It went slightly wrong :D

Corn snakes come in huge amount of different colours, so it is most likely one of them.

mmm she likes rats! :D

I have a passion for looking after animals that are often misunderstood/mistreated. I think that's what got me into piranha in the first place. I have gone virtually as far as I can go there now, in what has ended up one of the largest private dedicated piranha setups in the UK that I am aware of. Now I have got them set up and established and they are thriving I fancied a foray into the unknown again.

I don't actually see the types of animals I keep as "pets". They will never love you, never pine while you're away and yet there is something so rewarding about providing them with all the conditions they need to thrive, and then sitting back and watching them make a go of it! :D :luvlove:

It also helps if you are slightly :cuckoo:

:D ;)
