30l of petrol (£25) = £20 tax
8 pints (£17) = not sure, I'll guesstimate £10 tax"

You could argue that these are all "Idiot taxes" that only penalise drug abusers and the terminally lazy.

Vipa

I should have been more precise in what I originally worte. (I blame my dyslexia and not reading my original mail thoroughly)

Incapacity benefit is a great thing for those that need it, (as it seems, such as your wife) genuinely sorry to here that.

It is a known fact that incapacity benefit fraud is rampant under this government and is the point that I intended to highlight (in turn a factor taxes are increasing unnecessarily).

Surely you as someone who is in the middle of this knows this is going on (at the expense of genuine cases no doubt).

Sorry for the confusion (in your case), for all those lazy f88kers, get a job.

Without being flipant towards your situation, I hope that it was not MRSA from the filthy hospitals Labour have given us, that put you in the situation you find yourself in at the moment.

As for Toser, never been called that to my face before! but I would also be calling someone with a lack of tolerance I accidentally showed, a TOSER as well. :)

Agree with the drug bit. I don't (have never) smoke and hardly drink. The petrol bit stings, along with all the other hidden perils that come with car ownership in the UK these days :mad:

LOL, walk everywhere do you? If so, why are you in a Subaru enthusiasts forum?

OR are you against the new bread of hard core petrol junkies I hear about!

[QUOTE=VTEC to Turbo]WHAT?

To answer your question as you have written it, 'the conservatives'! (Might not be what you meant to write)

They are a government of similar size in a country that has exactly the same GDP and population, they are not as inefficient or bureacratic as Labour are).
:confused: To what Conservative government are you refering?

It has become common place and accepted to tax more (Stealth) and still not deliver better public services.
Quantify that.

It is the middle classes that lose out under this government, yet they are the ones votiste that is rife in the socialist, nannying state.
So socialist that this government is probably more right wing than the last Conservative government?

Socialist as piloting the economy for many consecutive months of growth and Bank of England independence re interest rates?

Benefit fraud for oneng them back in time and again. 7 years on and they are still trying to blame the conservatives for there inefficiency. I just can't understand it.
That's right inefficiency is only a thing of the past 7 years.

Dreamweaver, open your eyes. And Jods, :cuckoo:

D0ctorWho 17 March 2005 08:55 AM

No VTEc to Turbo I put myself in the terminally lazy camp, it's my choice to use a car as I despise spending time in close proximity to stinking proles on public transport.

Mind you diesel is 60p a ltr here and 98 RON about 69p/ltr so I don't mind paying the Govt their bit.

I've got a lot of work to do today but......

1. The British Conservative party are not as inefficient or bureacratic as Labour are.

2. One example of a Stealth tax is - tax on private pensions. This is money that has already been given tax exemption when we on the ground pay into a scheme. Labour in their misguided wisdom are now taxing the industry thus taking money away from investments. This is an £8 billion a year tax that has left us with an almost crippled industry which effects will only become transparent when Labour are well gone. This will mean that more people will be reliant on the state (exactly what this socialst government wants).

More cival servants than we have ever had, dirty hospitals, Tuition fees, railways, Speed cameras, the simple fact is that they are trying to micro manage every aspect of our lives (this is not a job for central government).

I agree they are paying vast sums of money into hospitals and schools but nothing is improving. Red tape and waste at our expense!

3. The best thing they have done was giving the Bank of England control of interest rates. Economy is down to the BoE not Gordon Brown - £31Billion borrowed has to be paid back at some time! Artifically propped up economy!

4. Not what I said at all;

"We all know that to some extent there will be bureaucracy and as a result some inefficiency.

The fact that bureaucracy and inefficiency is increasing under this government and as a direct result taxation is increasing, pisses me off. "

Got to earn my living now......

69p/ltr????????

Yes, seems a lot doesn't it considering that diesel was 50p/ltr and 98 RON 62p/ltr just last year. Spain has to be one of the cheapest countries in the EU taxation wise.
Puts into sharp relief how severely people in the UK are taxed on their fuel.
I've often wondered why diesel cost so much more in the UK, considering that everywhere else in Europe it's cheaper than petrol.

Prices of petrol in the UK at the moment and the % it is taxed;

http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/

Deisel 70.4% tax 84.8
95 octane 74.1% tax 79.6p
Higher Octane 69.5% tax 86.3p

Cheaper taxes and you have nice weather!

Forgiven....

Nope not MRSA... thought to have been Streptococcal (spelling???) which in turn caused encephalitis which in turn caused nurological damage which in turn put her in a wheelchair.

We think she picked it up in a hot tub whilst on a Ski Holiday in Collorado back in 1998 (she collapsed at work the week after we got back) but who knows....

Yes I am aware of the ludicrous claims in existence but unfortunately everyone gets tarred with the same brush!

Vipa

Harsh hand to be dealt!

I don't think that people in general tar everyone with the same brush, it's just a case the people say 'incapacity benefit' and it is assumed that they mean everyone!

We all know this is in place to help the genuine, it's just a crying shame that our society has degenerated to the extent that it has.

A lot of people these days feels that they are owed something for nothing and that it is their right to sit on there arses not contributing.
