Les - if the economy continues to grow steadily at such a comfortable rate it will never be a problem. The fantastically low level of interest rates and absence of boom-bust cycles should ensure this. The US economy is based on this growth premise too. Note that the UK current account deficit is under a tenth of the US's. Not what I would call cause for concern then.

Its interesting(to me anyway) that the Labour Party as a whole is viewed on here as just TB. I don't remember John Major being so unpopular as a leader but I do remember Margaret Thatcher being the favorite point of attack against the Tory's when they were in power. Interesting.....Since I'm no longer in the UK I'm not qualified to really comment on the daily impact of living under the TB regime but its definately the leader who appears to get the brunt of the 'punters' on here. I don't suspect though that a board like this is reflective of the common man/woman on the street across the UK.
