If the image of Subaru is that bad, why then are there more imho motor specialists for Subarus then most other makes?

Just my humble opinion.

Oh and the ISDC as well :)

It is precisely because these cars are icons, and have been for the last 10 years, that the chavs want them now, they can now afford to buy, if not run legally, earlier examples, in the same way that Sierra Cosworths were in their day.

The fact is that Scoobies are still desirable and turn heads, people look and kids wave and ask to have a look inside. How many other 20k cars can say that?

By comparison the new crop of 'pocket rockets' are pretty transitory, and how many will still be produced in a couple of years time while the Scoobie continues on, just look at what happened to the Focus RS. like it or not this years new Scoobie will be be top of the chav list in 8-10 years, if you can't hack that thought then you have the wrong car!

Well said that man!

There is -I believe- a saying in the trade:

"Before a car becomes a classic, it becomes cheap!"

Says it all really!

On that basis my STI8PPP should be a classic by next year judging by how cheap it's becoming!

LOL, I sympathise mate, but look at it this way: You've got an STI 8 PPP! Who buys a car as an investment? :-) Enjoy it mate, if you're going to loose money on it, you owe yourself that much!!! :-)

I think the quote refers as much to the implications of a car becoming cheap in terms of the kind of punter that can afford it and the subsequent effect on the cars image, as it does the value of the car per se.

I had wanted a Scooby for years.Only had the opportunity this year to get one.Being a bit older than your average Impreza driver I went for a Legacy B4.....best of both worlds??? maybe.
