LOL,just move South! I nearly had to put a jumper on this morning, cus there was a nip in the air :D

The problem for those of us in the Mersey valley is that a north-westerly wind always brings the bad weather. We're protected from the north by the Lake District, from the East by the Pennines, from the west by Wales and bad weather tends not to come from the south, but that north-westerly whistles straight in up the river and freezes us in our sleep, lol

You guys think you have it bad, try using an Elise, the heater takes about 1 hour to get going, it freezes on the inside too!! :D, glad I have a 2nd car :D

does anyone remember the bit in back to the future..when the doc first sends the delorean back in time and it all comes back frozen solid..well thats what my scoob was like lol. after jugs and jugs of warm water i managed to open the door..started the car and closed the door. and then guess what..the central locking locked all my doors with the keys in,car running and me outside!!!

thank god for spare keys or i would have been outside 6am with a slim jim..or hammer trying to open the door a-la ''TWOCer'' style.

Where can the silicone spray/ grease be bought from, btw?

Silicone grease is available from plumbers merchants but make sure that they don't try to palm you off with silicone SEALANT! :freak3:

I once saw a guy on a hotel car park PI$$ on his door handle, so don’t forget your own personal warm water supply if your desperate, although window seals could be difficult!

StickyMicky 21 November 2004 12:27 AM

i had sum very light frosty stuff on the car tonight as i was finnishing work, so i blasted it all off with the preasure washer, then got in and went to put the wipers on and i had about 5mm of ice frozen all over the car

You try doing that if your a lady driver, you'd keep slipping off the frozen roof!:D

Oh I've just realised what roof bars are for!

nyscooby 21 November 2004 11:13 PM

the lowest temp i recorded last night was minus -27.9 celcius.

Using my RS temp sensor.

I thought autolock just locked the doors that are closed when the ignition is switched on? Thats what mine seems to do. If I switch on with the door open (eg get the heater going while scraping off ice like last week), it doesn't lock the drivers door, and doesn't after I close it either.

Kazik 22 November 2004 12:46 AM

My wife came in that morning for some more hot water to unfreeze the driver-side door seals, whilst she was pouring the second small watering can full of water onto that door and still without success, I casually and effortlessly opened the passenger side door. Doh!! pays to try all the doors as wind direction, shelter, sunshine etc. can make a difference.
