LOL Frank

I would have wore the full suit, but you cant sit down in it, so driving would have been a complete night mare :)

It was a great night, my nephew thoroughly enjoyed it, hanging out of the window wearing a different mask, and asking all of the crowd, 'Do you like this car' then screaming at them, and dancing too

One of the highlights for me was the drunkard who came over and said '150 top end' and I thought he meant '£1.50 at the top end, the payment for the lights to the bucket collectors'

then it suddenly dawned on me he meant top speed, but all this happend whilst I was wearing the stormtrooper helmet :)

I got a massive cheer from a load of drunkards, sadly they wont pay for a new clutch :(

Excellent news on the amount of money raised, we just need to collate some of the best pics, write a short article and get it to Highlander68k for next months Scooby Magazine :)

TOP NIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have had a day now to take in and talk about all that happened on that memorable night.
It was our first Scoobynet event and we were gobsmacked to say the least.
We forgot about traffic jams, we just talked about the many exciting moments that happened. The sight and sound of all those Scoobies starting up and parading out of Halfords car park was mindblowing.
There are too many little events to go on about on here, just like to say thank you to everyone for making us feel welcome.
We'll be back for more.

Thanks, Big-G and family.
Mreg DBM Classic WRX Wagon.

P.s. I am glad that I bought an automatic scooby.!!!

Some of the best comments i heard where:

"Is there a rally going on or somthing"
"O Theres a subaru, o and another. Theres another 5" (must have heard this about 50 times)
"Are you all going down the bottom for a race?"

Top night once again and cant wait for the next :D

minor_threat 11 October 2004 02:10 PM

I echo all of the previous comments, it was a fantastic and very memorable night and we raised a good sum of money for the charity. :D :D

The funniest bit was sonic's turbo going BANG. There was a group of about 9 pensioners by the side of our car, laughing hysterically at sonic revving his engine, and then his turbo pops 3 times then bangs. One of the old women nearly shat her pants, she literally left the floor in a jump, then turned round and said "You stupid fecking t**t!" - I've never heard such language from an old lady! :D Scoobess and I were crying with laughter. One second the pensioner was laughing hysterically and the next second she was off to change her underwear.

Also, a guy in a red BMW 5 series driving in the opposite direction (well, crawling in the traffic!) drew up along side us. His son was standing up through the sunroof, looked down at our car and said: "Dad, their car's better than yours!" The guy looked mortified!

We heard so many people counting the cars, one man saying "Is there a Subaru convention on?" and lost count of the number of people who kept shouting "Rev your engine!". Roll along BBO3.

Sorry Minor Threat, but that along side Franks answer to the interviewer in the video clip about this becoming a Annual event have to be the quotes of the event!!!

I have spoken to Blackpool Police today...

the good news is that there were nothing reported about any of attendee's ...pretty good considering there were 108 cars at Halfords....

Also the news from the Police, is that for some reason, they reckon that traffic over the last two weekends has been up by 50% ...

(You cant Please everbody)

It would appear that some people didnt enjoy saturday night, see thread ..

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=369707

The reason there was no Police help, is because 'we couldnt get to them' ..... due to the volume of traffic. Due to a last minute piece of help from a local, we got a redirect to the lights, (ie- the right turn just prior to the hump back bridge near the airport).... in fairness, i did ask for anybody with local knowledge to pm me... i got 1 reply, and heard nothing for 6 weeks...so had to go it alone....i actually had someone recce it.. for me, and that came back traffic clear.

I can only apologise to anybody who didnt enjoy the night, but rest assured i did everything possible in terms of pre-event organisation.......i couldnt predict traffic volumes tho'..

If there is to be a BBO 2005, firstly u need to sort out how to control the traffic ...... until then, i really dont see how we can better the BBO, as everything run like clockwork up to that point.

So as organiser of the BBO, im going to bow out ......... as i cant control traffic, and i dont want to have people travelling hundrerds of miles, only to be let down.

Frank

tmo 11 October 2004 05:24 PM

Frank as I have posted on the SIDC site you cannot be blamed for the traffic.

I for one was stuck in the queue. Do you see me having a whinge ... no. ( I did at the time believe me)
As I stated, what some one should have done was walk down the row of traffic and advise people to turn right, just because some turn right doesn't mean all will follow !!!

"So as organiser of the BBO, im going to bow out ......... " Don’t do it.

Simon C 11 October 2004 05:29 PM

Frank, I'm sorry to read your post. Don't let the minority put you off. YOU did a sterling job of getting this off the ground and run with no trouble. You did everything you could, the only people who could have controlled traffic weren't there.

Don't forget, you pulled this off.
Simon

wah 11 October 2004 05:42 PM

Frank don't give up on this mate as stated you did a great job and the sight of over 100 scoobs together in the carpark made my night alone, everybody knows how busy Blackpool gets over the light period and I didn't complain one bit even when on the GM I loved all the attention we got and waving to all the kids

fastfrank 11 October 2004 05:43 PM

Alright there,

Thanks to my brother (steve) for the filming I've managed to upload one video clip so far (the one by some lights coming up to Halfords) which IMO is the best one. Dunno who that was in the dark blue classic moving across lanes but he was RAPID!

Get the clip direct by going to:
http://fastfrank.alan-partridge.co.uk/bb1/videos/bigone01.wmv or it can be found at the bottom of the piccy gallery page: http://fastfrank.alan-partridge.co.uk/bb1

Ethanrob,
hehe Yeah, sorry about that.... don't worry, I made sure the midget had some soft soled pumps on when he took the photo.:lol1:

Buzzer,
Where did you get that mask from.... I want the DarthVader one!..

Seanks,
Looking at the vid the sun was quite blinding as we came into the services so it didn't they didn't show up too well. I'll take another look and let you know, there might be way of enhancing the film.

You have to nick it off *Sonic* :D

redwrx 11 October 2004 06:18 PM

Friends,

just for info', the Police had put 6 officers on the junction we 'tried but couldnt' get to.. they were there, we just couldnt get to them.!

I have got broad shoulders, but part of organising any event, is the hope of making it enjoyable, you accept that you will never please everyone, .... Part of the attraction of the BBO is being stuck in slow moving traffic, for all to see ...

frank

Simon C 11 October 2004 06:28 PM

yep, slow moving traffic and the Lights do kind of go together. Don't give up Frank, you have a target to beat next year!!!

wah 11 October 2004 06:31 PM

Frank I have just tried to send you a PM but you have no space can you PM me your mail addy please

fastfrank 11 October 2004 07:26 PM

No redwrx YHM

STEVECHAPS 11 October 2004 07:41 PM

As it happens, we missed the instruction to turn right, didn't follow squadron leader sticky (Doh) & ended up stuck for 2hrs on the bridge before the lights. Gave up at 9.36 when we could see the lights but couldn't get to them. Got home by 10.30 ;).
NOT A PROBLEM HERE.
Steve

Sticky Stuff 11 October 2004 08:01 PM

Leaves Blackpool at 9:36 and arrives home at 10:30.....

...and you live in Grimsby.
