And what provided the lift then? Also, as we kids knew at the time, there was no way that anything with a rotor on top was aerodynamic enough to go transsonic, regardless of the "turbos".

This can only be settled one way. The "Alien vs. Predator" film is coming out soon -- we need to get Hollywood working on "Blue Thunder vs. Airwolf" :D

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 09:50 PM

what provided the lift errrrrrrrrrm lol well looking at the gun pods you could always user Bernoulli's Principle of Lift and say that the gun pods acted like mini wings.

As for the rotorblades its airwolf and magical LOL

Yeah, they might have produced enough lift at Mach 10, but certainly not at Mach 1!

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 10:00 PM

well as the general rule for helicopters goes "The rotors are just for show, helicopters are so ugly the earth just repels them"

carl 17 August 2004 10:01 PM

Well if that's the case, Blue Thunder should have ended up in outer space

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 10:05 PM

PMSL good point carl

P1Fanatic 17 August 2004 10:40 PM

Just watched both those clips and must admit they both look mint. If I was a billionaire like abramavich I would be getting a replica made of each :)

Blue Thunder does have that cool "scooby flat 4" unique sound to it but just looks a bit sluggish. Thing is the film was so much more serious and therefore better than the series. Never realised that bubba guy who plays Hightower in the police academy series was in the Blue Thunder Series.

Simon.

carl 17 August 2004 10:49 PM

Yep, and JAFO (in the film) was Dana Carvey -- aka Garth from Wayne's World.

PS: How did Bubba Smith ever get a job acting? He's terrible!

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 10:55 PM

Always remember one episode of Blue thunder when they put on "whisper mode" so the "bady guys" wouldnt hear them LOL it was hovering just behind them its was a tad obvious, but bad guys were always thick, like the A-team they had never ending clips

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 11:08 PM

sorry guys other vid :D , but you dont see anyone making a RC blue thunder

RC Airwolf powered by a Jetcat Turbine the exhaust from the Turbine comes out the Turbo Nozzles on Airwolf (see they do work)
http://www.jetcatusa.com/Video/Airwolf.WMV

carl 17 August 2004 11:17 PM

The exhaust nozzles point upwards. No way they can produce lift unless the aircraft is inverted!

("If you were above him, how could you see him?"
"I was inverted")

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 11:19 PM

oh no !!! please dont get onto Top gun now

carl 17 August 2004 11:23 PM

Anyway, having covered Streethawk (where did all the traffic go in Hyperthrust mode? I'd be happy to have a Hyperthrust mode that removed all the traffic without doing the 300mph thing!), how about Automan?

Automan Intro :D,

superb especially when the car turns in to the helicopter

carl 17 August 2004 11:35 PM

PMSL at the cheesy music!
Can't believe it had Robert Lansing in it, who was class as "Control" in The Equalizer.

How comes the car only does 90 degree turns, but the cursor can go all over the place (and not just in rows 'n' columns, like they did on 'green screen' terminals)? ;)

ScottyScoob 17 August 2004 11:54 PM

PMSL just found an episode of Airwolf i have when Airwolf has to fight against the evil one "Redwolf", going to have a bit of a play with Adobe Premiere and see if i can add Blue thunder as Redwolf

noobscoob 18 August 2004 02:30 PM

didnt redwolf have the all new laser prototype weapon? to the guy who says dana carvey was jafo in the movie blue thinder..it was the guy from home alone that was the original jafo..lymangoode..dont know his real name.

does anyone ever recall a show called the highwayman? it stared sam jones of flash gordon fame..and he drove a big truk with a chopper concealed in the roof. pure 80s class

ScottyScoob 18 August 2004 02:54 PM

didnt the whole cab turn into a chopper and the whole truck could go invisible or am i thinking of something completely different. seem to remember an episode when one passenger said lets get out of here as they were surrounded and the highwayman handed him the steering wheel and the steering column turned into a flight stick

NeilT 18 August 2004 04:07 PM

In a fight, Airwolf would easily win, better equipped, rockets, jet propulsion, and a decent theme tune - which counts big time ;)

classic Airwolf was easily the best thing on telly at the time, alongside of course A Team and Knight rider.

But has anyone watched the crap 'new' Airwolf series (well more recent, dunno when it was made tho) - its appallingly bad!

In reality the Comanche would trounce both of them! http://www.army-technology.com/proje...comanche3.html if it hadnt been shelved.

IT was Stringfellow's bro Sinjin (sp?) that flew Airwolf in the later series (aka Barry Van Dyke of "Diagnosis Murder" fame and Dick's son :D) and they also turned the theme tune crap as well.
Think the Airwolf movie (with Dr Moffat, Airwolfs inventor in it) was one of my fav video's when I was a kid. :) The dude with the suit got off lightly with an eye patch and a gammy leg IMHO :D

Reckon that Comanche would get wrecked by Airwolf, especially if Santini was on the weapons anyway :p

noobscoob 18 August 2004 09:34 PM

''dom..gimme a copperhead'' :)

the newer airwolf show was so dire . i tried so many times to accept it and get into the show but it just had so many flaws in the end i just religated it to another one to miss tv show . in one episode i acctually saw a guy fire a rocket launcher at another person..who defleted the rocket(neon didgital effect cardboard thing) with a piece of scafold pipe....erm...ok!!

in the film blue thunder..didnt a hues 500 almost took out roy shneider? airwolf would have a field day :)

Hanslow 18 August 2004 09:38 PM

I've got 5 videos that I taped off the TV with all the Stringfellow Hawke episodes on ;) I was soooooooo tempted to start getting the DVDs ;) Maybe when they are in the bargain bucket ;)
