We had a 'weird' rating system at uni...

Level 1) Weird as cheese. (a bit out of the ordinary)
Level 2) Weird as combats (strange)
Level 3) Weird as Tim (just don't go there... Tim was *very* weird!)

We all knew exactly how weird things were on this scale...

Rachael (not bothering to log Dave out... again!)

Some of my favourites:
Skank - word used to describe 'non-sophisticated' women of low quality. ;)
Wazzok - fool, idiot (unsure of the spelling)
Mad as a balloon - courtesy of Blackadder, perfectly descriptive.

On a related subject, I was slightly concerned that the narrator on the BBC's new series 'Time Machine' used the coloquialism 'it all went pear shaped' on Sunday. Dumbing down? Never....

wazzock - not heard that for years :)

sken - used to describe someone with wonky eyes, as in " he has a sken like a bucket full of snails "

I can't claim the following phrase, it was first used by my old squaddie neighbour and can be used in any number of pi$$ take situations.
When someone raises a question the reply was always " Good point, well presented, deserves an answer"
When using this phrase you must use the correct hand signals. One hand being used in a Karate chop movement downwards on the words "point", "presented" and "answer".

wrxtankie 15 July 2004 12:44 PM

Still used today as a method of instruction :D

Richard Askew 15 July 2004 12:51 PM

"Face like a fire damaged welly" - to describe a not-too-pleasant female :D

"Marsh hopping swamp donkey" - see above

Used them years ago - moved back and some of the lads who work at the place I used to but werent there when I was are now using these phrases

Ahh what a legacy :D

I don't know where it came from but i'm sure i'm not the only one to use it.

Face like an unopened parachute accident.....descriptive, and, in many parts of the world, uncannily accurate. :D

tonybooth 15 July 2004 01:12 PM

Mingebag - nickname for wife :)

Bean Flicker - nickname for wife :)

Gusset Typer - nickname for wife :)
