I told him I was still running her in and she was due her 1000 mile service a couple days! Lights turned amber and he wheelspan off. While still keeping the rev's below 4000 (believe me or not;))I thought he would of battered me ALOT more than he did! Yes he prob didn't give it all he had. Will be a different story next time;):)

I've also convoyed with a couple scoobs, two uk classics, one being an rb5 and a spec C. On one occasion, on a slow rolling start with the rb5. We both stepped on it. The rb5 pulled about a cars lengths on me (like an aspirated car would do to begin with) and it wasn't till 3rd gear till I caught him. Once in 4th gear though (the WR1's best gear imo) I passed and proceeded to make ground. The rb5 did do allot better than I would of thought though. It was running a full d-cat and a revised ecu(I think).
At the next set of traffic lights we both did a proper start. I'll let him tell the out come if he wants to;P:D

I am pleased how she does against the spec C though. I think the specC is running a miltek exhauset and a remap. The times the spec C pulls any distance is in on the 1st snap of the accelerator, slightly between gear changes and during one point in 2nd gear. Apart from that they are pretty equal, only talking half to a cars lengths differnce to not too clever speeds, to the specC. Im sure once well into 5th and 6th it would gradually start pulling away though. I hope the guy doesn't mind me posting this;):)

The only play though some lanes was with a Z4. I was just fast cruzing and didn't even think he was trying to keep up till we hit a long straight and I noticed this car I saw behind a mile or so b4 bombing up behind me lol.

All in all another very very happy WR1 owner:D

I'd have said the oposite, on the 5th 6th as the spec c is geared lower... 5th 6th are tall on the STI

Nice reviews everyone good to see some "real world" views rather than pub talk....... I just need to keep my wife away from Subaru Garages until their all sold ;) otherwise she may get one without me knowing...

Ignoring the fact that its running more power and is lighter. I would of thought that a lower geared 5th and 6th would mean quicker acceleration but in the end a lower top end?

Actually, the gearing is my only real criticism. The rev distance between 4th and 5 is massive in relation to the others. But I gather this is inherent with all Uk sti?

I'd like to hear more about ppls experiences with the diff though. How good is the auto mode? I can already hear the likes of GM: define good. Good/ effective ect. Its an open question... Thx :)

Clive and I met up a few days ago to compare WR1s. They looked cool parked together. I can honestly say Clive drives his properly and it certainly got my Adrenalin pumping ;) Thanks Clive. Mine has it's 1000 miler on Tuesday, then my smile while be even broader. Lets just say the WR1 more than compares favourably with my old P1.

Mine is in for its first service and mud flaps fitting tomorow morning, so far i'm very impressed with the car ( my first subaru) my only complaint is the lack of support of the seats giving me back ache after quite a short distance compared to my last car, but that is more to do with me falling off too many motorbikes in the past!!

All in all, not having driven any P1's or similar I can only compair it to my last car a M3 and appart from the better build quality I can't realy see how you can complain at the price, a new M3 with toys being the best part of 45k.

I did look at evos but my wife drove it about 4 miles then refused to drive it any further , jumped in the wr1 and drove it no prob's at all. Regarding the colour all the comments i have had have been positive.

Only other problem i have come accross is the gear knob get's bl**dy hot if you leave the car in the sun all day!!! but i can live with that.

Did you go for the black prodrive ones? and do you have a link or pics of them?

Hope you enjoy things 'post run-in' :D

Liam.

The flaps I have fitted to my WR1 are the black 'Prodrive' ones............they look very smart and finish off the car nicely!!

I know they're expensive.............but so far I'm very happy with them!!

I must take some pic's..............!!

Don't now were they came from, dealer sourced them, they are not from IM that i do now, will take some pic's tomorow and try to post them. From what i'v seen of them they look the same but have sti on them. Cost 220 plus vat so not cheap.

Some pics would be great Kdp

Would be intrested in a set for mine, £220 still pricey but lot better than £380 for the sti ones.

I had a set of Scott Lowe mud flaps fitted on Tuesday and they look very nice, can't find a fault with them for the price.

Kdp 17 June 2004 11:38 AM

Just come back from the dealers, flaps fitted but i have a feeling they are on wrong the front are not far off the floor and the rears miles away!! they are adament they are on correctly.

I have a feeling they are the scott low ones with a small margin added over the scott low price!!!!! Perhaps that was why they were reluctant to tell me who supplied them.

In any case they look good and wil try to get a photo done today, not done this before so pointers on how to will be appriciated . Sorry we are a little off topic.
