Stunning Spec.

A worthy 22b replacement IMHO.

Just need to know when it's out and how much.

Insurance might be an issue though, i'm not sure companies like direct line and L&V will know what it is.

is not its to thin :D

smb1 08 January 2004 03:39 PM

Must be a cracker to mod if it's already runnin on a 2.5l.......

john coffey 08 January 2004 04:08 PM

Would this be quicker on roads than a FQ330?

TopBanana 08 January 2004 04:18 PM

Much quicker I'd have thought. Because it's 2.5l, there's a lot more air flowing at low revs which will spin the turbo up much earlier. Plus there'd be more torque anyway cos of the bigger engine.

john coffey 08 January 2004 04:20 PM

:D
Nice

speedking 08 January 2004 04:28 PM

Shouldn't weigh much more than the 2.0 STi.
Are you agreeing with me?;)

Plus to weight: 6 speed gearbox, DCCD, heavier lump, water spray, twin scroll, bigger tyres, bigger brakes, folding mirrors, and of course the 'Windshield wiper fin'.

Minus: carbon fibre wing.

I bet it won't have thin glass, manual windows, no aircon etc.

I stand to be corrected, but I reckon it will be quite heavy. Still awesome though:)

Sti already has 6 speed, do you mean a MY00 sti?
DCCD is an extra kg or so, big deal.
Heavier lump? Lump of what? 2.5 is no heavier.
Water spray. Yup, but no ABS probably.
Twin scroll? Purleeeease.
Bigger brakes? Bigger than what? MY00 sti with big heavy steel calipers? Sti brembos weight no more overall.

Sorry, what was the point of all this?

Paul

speedking 08 January 2004 05:19 PM

Lump = engine, sorry.

WRX = 1395kg
STi = 1470kg
Type 25 = xxxxkg

I never said much heavier, just that IMO it will probably be the heaviest Impreza ever (even 1kg will do it:)). Time will tell.

SPEN555 08 January 2004 05:29 PM

Heaviest jap spec at the mo is 1440kg, so it's got 40kg saving over UK spec STi. What the 40Kg saving is beats the $hit outta me thoug as I have not got a clue.

Maybe JDM cars don't have side impact bars etc. whereas UK/Euro has extra safety features adding weight.

jason4656 08 January 2004 05:44 PM

they probably weigh them with the driver in, and as asians are not 18stone like most of us, its probably in that lol

john banks 08 January 2004 05:49 PM

I assumed it was Spec C based so probably one of the lighter new age cars?

scoobycar60 08 January 2004 06:04 PM

Sounds like the dogs bits to me how much? and when?
My yet to be confirmed Solberg order is beginning to look a bit weak to me......

SPEN555 08 January 2004 06:15 PM

The one Ian talked to me about was the GL model.

I think he is flexible on it, he is not bound by IM you know lol!

So I would imagine you specify the base model, i.e. Sti, C Spec, Solberg V Limited. He will then price up to covert it to 2.5 based on what model you want. The show car has the engine suspension and brakes. I would imagine he will offer these as separate packages.

Damian.

kwakman 08 January 2004 06:47 PM

Just seen it at Autosport. Its very low! Its on the Samco stand not too far from the official scooby stand. It does make the WR1 look a bit weak. Ive got some photos (not too great) if anyone wants to stick em up.

Markus 08 January 2004 06:54 PM

kwakman, email em to me (pics@markuswarren.co.uk) and I'll host em.

kwakman 08 January 2004 06:56 PM

On their way Markus. Apologies for the quality in advance, but they,ll give you an idea.

Markus 08 January 2004 07:16 PM

got the mail, have replied. I shall let you post them up.

Think it is rather amusing that the Type 25 being shown is also Ice Blue (unless my eyes are totally messed up)

Not bad pictures, and a lovely car and if I was in the position for a new scooby I would be very tempted by this, especially if one could have the base model as a jap spec STi V-Limited, heck the normal JDM STi would be good enough, but a v-limited or Spec C, mmmmmmmmmmm.

I know Ian (or Iain? never sure) is on here, well, not right now, but you know what I mean, anyway, I hope he does comment on whether it is as seen, or whether you can define what the base care pre Type 25 is.

Danny B 08 January 2004 07:33 PM

Looks like silver to me (unless my eyes are messed up).
Nice car, need some more shots of the rear <hint, hint>

Scooby Drew 08 January 2004 07:33 PM

Its very low!
That's because it comes with adjustable coilovers - and my god it goes around corners well:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Ted Ed 08 January 2004 07:33 PM

34k !!

sob sob

another thing on my wish list

Markus 08 January 2004 07:55 PM

OK my eyes are messed up, I stand corrected it's silver.

kwakman 08 January 2004 08:09 PM

Apparently this one was a spec-C pre conversion. Thats what the bloke on the Samco stand told me anyway! It is Silver, a bit hard to tell from the photos. It looks more aggresive than the WR1, and expect it will go harder too. Subaru were being cagey about the spec of the WR1 for some reason.

Daz34 08 January 2004 10:08 PM

Anyone know what make the adjustable suspension is?

carl 08 January 2004 10:36 PM

Well Powerstation sell the Bilstein PSS9 kits, so I assume it's that.

churchwa 08 January 2004 10:57 PM

Looks like a great car.

The reason Subaru was being cagey was because Prodrive have not finnished the final spec of the car yet as far as power goes.

SPEN555 08 January 2004 11:02 PM

I spoke to Ian Litchfield just before christmas and he was preparing a Silver JDM WRX STi GL model with all the options (i.e. DCCD-A, Quick Rack etc). He was then putting in the 2.5, suspension etc and basically showing what he can provide.

So it is not a C Spec, they don't do a C Spec in Silver anyway. Quite a knowledgeable chap that on the stand.

Damian.
